...and the band will be playing the Neutron Dance at the end of the third quarter in place of Hang On Sloopy. That is all that I know for now, still no clue what will become of the song after tomorrow...

Please pass on to your band director the post I made earlier in this thread about the importance of keeping the Neutron Dance song alive...

Doc Woods has to understand that. He knows a great tradition when he sees one. I hope anyway.

Not too much to describe 27. A brief announcement about about Orlas passing and then the entire stadium stood and clapped as TBDBITL played the Neutron Dance. A bit low keyed all in all. Several of the stadium camera "shots" were of the seating were Orlas was normally to be found. I think folks were unsure if they should honor Orlas by dancing and showing some spirit or by being reserved and politely clapping to the song.

Orlas was a member of my high school graduating class, Kettering Fairmont High School 1961. The Dragons went 28 and 2 during his three years. Orlas played a mean nose guard. I saw him at our reunion this past labor day weekend. His Dayton friends had been on his case to loose some weight and he looked better than he had in years. He lived following his passions and doing good for others. Not a bad record.

The feeling I got in the stands was a somber tribute to Neutron. I don't think alot of people knew he passed away and I overheard people saying how much they'll miss the guy.
I think the combination of the score and the shock of his passing caused a very low key moment at the stadium.

Saw this today. With all the negative feelings going around right now, this made me smile. While growing up this was always one of my favorite traditions to see when going to games.

Ohio State football has always been much more to me than just what the scoreboard says at the end of the games.

Vico on Neutron Man:

My policy: if for any reason you have a problem with Neutron Man (RIP), I hate you.

Here, here.
