Hey, don't get me wrong, I love our band to death and think its clearly TBDBITL. And there is no question that its the best marching band.

The individual spirit they show when they break off into groups or go around on each others shoulders is incomparable. Individually or in small groups, they show amazing amount of spirit and fight despite the current score in teh game.

But once they get into their seats, they are not active enough IMO. I HATE scUM's band, but that is because they are constantly playing and trying to rally their team, even when they are down by 2-3 scores. When OSU needs that same lift (try during scUM's 2nd drive or afterwards), the OSU band is SILENT.

Maybe they just aren't allowed to play by their band director. But it seems like they don't do enough of the stuff to piss off the opposing fans and charge up a losing team. I would like to see more dancing, rowdiness, and especially heart when we are down.

I don't want them to be scUM's band, b/c then they would be a piss pour excuse for TBDBITL. But it seemed like scUM's band played with heart and fire all day in spite of the situation, and the OSU band only played after good plays.

I'm sure I'll receive tons of red chicklets for this, and that's fine. Just realize that I want to see TBDBITL become even better than they are now. They are amazing at playing and marching, I want to see them start dancing and pissing off fans more.

The chief has a point probably. I mean I didn't....

even know that ND had a band if it weren't for them playing in the shoe when we whipped their butts, then returned the favor the following year in the house that Jesus built. The same could go for UM's band. I only notice them because of their god awful uniforms.

Who in the heck thought about using yellow and blue as a color combination? Good lord that is ugly. They look like a bunch of cub scouts.

The Flighting Irish look like a bunch of Girl Scouts with the yellow and green. They are the fashion faux pas of college football.

Oh yeah, and they both have bands right? I barely noticed. You are right on that one Notredamechief. Outside the respective fans nobody really notices the bands. Unless they have one of the best college traditions per many sports polls, like ours does. At least our band gets that recognition, unlike yours.

Skull Session... The Ramp Entrance.... etc, etc. There's a lot more to the Band that Script Ohio. I'm sure some of the members of TBDBITL who visit the board can give you a better idea.

Well theres probably a reason for the band NOT playing during the time we are losing..... For one it's like when I was in high school. When My team is gett'n there asses kicked and I hear the cheerleaders doing the we're #1, and we're going to win chants I'm think'n shut the hell up........

The point is when your losing you have to kind of be alittle safe about how your band plays/cheerleaders..... Because what happens if Michigan goes way up on us yesterday? Most likely there band and their cheerleaders will start to rub it in..... So I say what they did wasn't only what most teams bands/cheerleaders do but it was very smart........ For god sakes we were losing.

Also as a football player I for one will tell you I never heard the damn band playing any music when I was on that field..... even though they were playing the whole game. So its not like the players are out there gett'n fired up because of band music....... before the game? Hell yeah the band does wonders. I use to get goosebumps when we had pep rally's but thats BEFORE the game.

buckeye4eva, you're fucking clueless. TBDBITL plays more often during games than any other band. I heard them about twice as often as I heard the scUM band yesterday, and even when we were down 14-7, they played.

bukIpower, I for one don't agree at all with the idea of the band not playing when we're losing. The band is there to help fire up not only the fans but the team. They're there not only to help you celebrate when you're winning, but to help rally you when you're losing.

I will take some of your red chicklets for this but again MOST most college football fans could give a rats ass about the band. If it was not for the famous script Ohio tradition OSU would not either...
Uhhhhhh.....wrong
1. Script Ohio
2. Ramp entrance
3. Alumni day - Double Script Ohio, plus I love watching the 90+ year old alumni hustling to keep up out there. You can just feel their pride from your seats.
4. Hang On Sloopy
5. Buckeye Battle Cry
6. We Don't give a Damn for the whole state of M_ch_gan
7. Carmen Ohio
8. Skull Session

And much much more that I can't even come up with. TBDBITL just simply rocks. They are entertaining as hell to watch. And they do it without having to resort to cheap vulgar stunts like Stanford. So while other fans may not appreciate their band, rest assured we do.

The only thing I noticed from the band besides the halftime show-fuckin' awesome-one of their best,IMO, was when they were playing "We Got the Funk". It was also cool when they were marching around C deck. TBDBITL should not change it's look and precision for a bunch of smart aleck, Stanford wannabe, anti-athletic BS.

From the south stands, I hardly ever heard scUM's band. We were too loud down there. BUt during pregame, when the Piss and Blow Band was playing on the field, we drowned them out with a stadium O-H-I-O. ThescUm fans started chanting GO- BLUE during Carmen Ohio just a few minutes later. Its all in good fun. But why the scUM fans have cowbells? Did they take them from the cheerleaders necks?

Holy shit!! I never thought that I would see the day when somebody would have the nerve to criticize the Best Damn Band in the Land. Go buy a shovel and dig the wax out of your ears because you obviously haven't heard them play.
