great job by the bucks today, probably their best overall game and they actually got it together with the rebounding....much improved free throw shooting...bring on the badgers...

12-3........just need three more wins to surpass last years win total.

Great game today. This is the first game I've been able to see this year except for the Clemson game. Unfortunately, here in Huber Heights, Time Warner gives us Cincy local channels instead of Columbus to go along with our Dayton locals. I'm really impressed performance they gave today. This is a top-15 caliber team, and I think with a little more length on the court, they become a conference championship-caliber team. Tons of credit to Matta and the team for playing for pride this season.

I wouldn't read too much into this win and say they're a Top-15 team yet. The second-half performances against Clemson, Creighton, and Illinois show that this team doesn't have any difference makers coming off the bench, and if Dials gets into foul trouble the game can get out of hand for the Bucks real, real quick.

However, it was a complete performance against a ranked Iowa opponent, and aside from the sloppy play through the opening 6/7 minutes of the second-half, the Bucks dominated throughout. What Thad Matta has done with OB's players, especially considering where this team was last year is amazing. What a difference a coach makes.

I hope the one-year self-imposed probation is enough to appease the NCAA and things don't get any worse from here. A severe recruiting or scholarship limit would really hurt the momentum Matta is building here.

Mostly, I was impressed with the home crowd. They came loud and proud and supportive of their Bucks, which has been the one thing about the program I've been most critical about since the '99 season. Given the great history and tradition of the men's bball program, there is no reason that we should only draw a crowd of fair weather fans or ever have sub .500 seasons. I hope this game is a sign of things to come from the players, program, and the fans.

This is a very exciting time for the OSU programs: fielding nationally competitive teams in men's and women's bball, the outlook for football, hockey ... the facilities, coaches, etc. It's a shame we're getting nothing but negative press, because everything is looking up from here. I hope these teams, the facilities they have available to them, and their coaches are the legacy Andy Geiger is remembered for, because anything else would be a disservice to what he's put together.

I would only take issue with Steve19's characterization of the win as an "upset." So long as Steve Alford is coach at Iowa, wins over the Hawkeyes cannot accurately be called upsets IMO.

That being said, great win by the Buckeyes. They seem to show incremental improvement with almost every game. 20 wins seems likely to me.

Great win.

It's nice to be a fan of a "2 sport" school again. No reason why our Basketball program can't compete for National Championships every year just cause OSU is a "Football school" right? It may take a couple seasons, but I think Matta might get us to there. This team is clearly having fun playing, and they are fun to watch again. Hats off to Matta for turning this group of guys around from the season they were having last year. (I don't mean that to sound like a slam, just more of a credit to the job Matta is doing)

And I think you are right. It was a poor choice of words. The computers and Vegas had us as 2-3 point favorites, so 12 was a big difference and should put us back in the top 25 in the Sagarins. I stand corrected but agree, one hell of a game. I also don't think this team is a top 15 team, but I do think they are now a valid top 25 team and hope they will get a ranking soon. They deserve it. What a turnaround!

I love the fact this years buckeyes are using there strength of the big man down low. O'brein made the guards the main scoring weapon and would have done it this year to

Geiger did a great job with Matta as the answer

Typical of Thad Matta coached teams is to improve at the mid season mark and I think we are showing signs of that now. I have watched Xavier basketball from Dayton for about 12 years and while Matta was there the teams always come on strong at the end. By the end of the season we could be crushing other B10 teams hopes of going dancing! Great win today.
