OSU Men's Basketball Recruiting/Projections/General Discussions

could be a very good week for the program. ledee, of course, is committing sometime today. the guard situation could shore up and shore up quickly. based on crystal balls, various guru opinions, some message board posts, and curious twitter decisions from the prospects, a man would be confident in placing a bet on two of weaver, muhammad, and washington committing to ohio state. and if that happens along with ledee, then it likely comes down to ahrens and/or battin. i think ahrens would be swayed by the positive direction of program (reflected by the commitments) and choose osu over ttun. as far as battin goes, i can't see him committing at least until his official. if our staff still wants him, and i expect that they would, there is no reason for that process to be hurried. battin won't be competing against udeze for the other frontcourt spot.

holtmann had an in-home visit with muhammad on monday. i wouldn't be shocked if he's quietly "in." holtmann has an in-home visit with weaver today. it may be the case that holtmann gives weaver the option then and there to grab the second guard spot; otherwise, it's open to washington. sure, all three have committable offers, but coach has a board and not all recruits gets the same information at the same time and the recruits don't have the same conversation at the same time. muhammad and weaver are at the top of holtmann's board, but washington ain't exactly a consolation... and i mean that in a good way. washington is really, really good. and the staff knows it. in my book, the trio of muhammad, washington, and weaver are 1a, 1b, and 1c.

spitballing here...

noah locke received a crystal ball (from maryland's 247 guy; locke lives in maryland) to ttun today. i think that's interesting because it is believed (per corey evans) that ohio state made up a lot of ground with locke. now i'm not saying that osu was the favorite or that locke was planning on committing to ohio state, but i wouldn't be shocked if locke to ttun is becoming more likely because two of muhammad/weaver/washington to ohio state is becoming more likely.

So do you believe this may be a reason that Cohill never visited....
very well could be the case. holtmann might have seen cohill as an october or november take... but not an early september take (read: during the official visit period) when you're in a good place with the top targets. i didn't hear much about cohill's play this summer, so perhaps he underperformed a bit. i don't know. my hang-up on cohill was that i didn't see him as the facilitator/distributor that our backcourt will need.

I was wondering what a LeDee might do to a possible Ahrens commitment. I know that they are somewhat different players but it seems like they might compete for the same position and playing time or maybe I am way off base.

Also, if CH can get LeDee, Weaver, and Muhammed, it would be fine with me if he would take 2 other recruits. Sparty has a class of 5 so why cannot Ohio State have a class of 5. There really is not much out there next year anyhow.

I need a basketball commit or three :yay2:

Will Holtmann backtrack, Litl, and take 5? I'm good with that. He seems to like filling up the ranks with walk-ons for practice, though. I'm seeing him go for four this year, though, since LeDee came out of nowhere.

I do not know. I guess that if the right 2 guys want to commit after Weaver and Muhammed I certainly would take five in this class. I guess it all depends on who wants in.
