OSU Men's Basketball Recruiting/Projections/General Discussions

So far, Coach holt2 has been responsible for 4 commitments to Ohio State, which is a pretty good clip for being on the job not even 6 months.
Kyle Young, Musa Jallow, Jaedon LeDee, and Duane Washington all represent nice blue-collar, non-pretentious, well-rounded basketball players. If he adds Ahrens and Hayes to this class, you are looking at a whole truckload of players who aren't projected to be big-time scorers in college. Muhammad might be a facilitator too, but I think he projects a little more as a scorer. Either way, I'm interested in seeing if Holt can manufacture some solid offense without any clearly identifiable go-to men in the future. Interesting bunch he has assembled....I'm not overwhelmed, but I'm not skeptical, either. I'm intrigued in how they're going to look.

Yeah, I'm sure when OSU gets back to being a top-10 program, the in-state stars are going to be a lot more inclined to jump aboard. I think he has a really good approach to building a roster even without those guys, though.

I'm telling you, just wait until people see the product he puts out in the Ohio State jerseys.

I've touted this dude big time for his coaching ability, but mix in this recruiting with the Ohio State media machine he seems to be embracing and I'm excited. The brand is going to blow up.

Looks like holt is going to have to find someone who can rebound the basketball with that outlook:wink: I think guys who are well-rounded basketball players can find ways to score without being big-time scorers if you get my drift. Plus, as they grow basketball wise, so will their game and thus their ability to score.

Muhammad - G
Washington - G
Ledee - PF
Ahrens - SF

I think they then take one more of Weaver, Locke, Nembhard, Hunter, Ayala to fill a 3rd guard.
@HabaneroBuck would not like this class because none of these guys are big-time:biggrin2: scorers. If we do get Muhammed, and X is starting to worry me a little, I would not mind finding a guy who could play the front court and play the 4/5

I would take Darius Days personally over Ahrens if given the choice. I just think that Ahrens is a much more realistic get over Days. I'm not sure Holtmann and crew are established enough yet to pull a guy who is also being recruited by mostly high major schools.

Maybe Udeze but I am not sure if he could fill the role. Also, I do not think that we know who holt may be recruiting. I certainly did not think that we had a shot at LeDee and I do not know how he feels about junior-college guys.
When it comes to Days I think you can call it a day.

I don't think CH will be targeting JC players. If his history foretells the future, college transfers, of the grad transfer and also sit out variety, are going to be twice as prominent as they have been at OSU recently, and JC transfers will be added less often.

Things just started looking brighter for the Ohio State basketball program. After a slow (actually miserable) start in recruiting Holtmann pulls off the RECRUITING HAT TRICK this week with Washington, LeDee, and Muhammed.
