OSU Men's Basketball Recruiting/Projections/General Discussions

That said, if this staff can convince a good grad transfer PG to come spend their last season splitting time with CJ Walker... that might be their most impressive recruiting job yet. Definitely wondering more about the sit-out xfer guards we could get to take up the reins after Walker graduates.

This guy (i.e. point guard that can score) would definitely "fill a need".

My wife is a professor at Radford University and we have been to many games over the past few years, including the Big South championship game a couple years ago when Carlik hit the game winning three pointer to punch Radford’s ticket to the Big Dance. The kid is a big shot taker and a big shot maker having won several games over the last couple of years with big shots down the stretch. I would definitely consider Carlik more of a combo guard, similar to Duane Washington’s game, only without the 3-4 boneheaded turnovers per game. He could definitely handle the point 8-10 minutes per game for CJ when he is resting next season. He could also cut into the 2 guard minutes as well with his shooting ability. He is not exceptionally quick or fast, but has a great knack to get to the front of the rim and is an excellent finisher with either hand. I would be excited to see him end up with the Bucks next season if the scholarship numbers allow it.

I see Jalen Tate as more of a Holt-type player than some other transfers that have been linked to OSU. I think he would be the perfect add from an OSU standpoint. The ultimate question to me is would he be willing to compete with an incumbent starting Senior PG for minutes in his final year? I think otherwise it all makes sense for OSU and Jalen. I suspect that Jalen is the type of high-effort, versatile player that would fit very well onto the OSU team.

I would say from an overall talent standpoint that former Kansas State guard Cartier Diarra is the top PG on the transfer market. Certainly he is a difference-maker, should he choose to remain in college. But he may be turning pro.

Micawber is a good offer, hope we can make some head-way there cuz I don't think things are looking great for Duncomb, Bediako, or Reid.

But this might be another area where we end up recruiting a transfer. Transfer bigs tend to be pretty iffy, though.
