Murderous Rage

I just hope ND and Pburgh aren't the reasons I'm going to miss most of the 1st quarter of our game.

There's not enough hate in the world to cover that scenario for me.

I'd like to throttle whatever anus at ESPN decided to start one game at 6, and another at 9.

We only missed our first possession, which resulted in a punt, so no biggie. By the way, last year the cut late to the game also and we ended up behind at halftime, and we still won the game. We'll be alright.

Any post game Clarifications this week?

Well I will post mine. It was obvious from the out set of this game that even if OSU did survive this week, they weren't gonna win the rest. I am not shocked at all, disappointed a little. But happy more than anything, as people mentioned on BN what a run, wouldn't be more proud of the troops (sans Reynolds). I will wait for the clarifications of it's namesake to chime in.

WISCY: Well, it happened.

I'm not quite ready to dissect it all, but suffice it to say that this is one win I wouldn't have felt great about.

Right now I feel like I was Tress to err on the side of "too harsh" with Reynolds. But kicking him off the team as has been suggested elsewhere is way above and beyond IMO, at least relative to other punishments that have been handed out for far worse offenses.

Our offensive playcalling was pitiful. I do find myself wondering if I've been wrong all along about JT and the 'rope-a-dope' theory.

I'm officially of the opinion that hard changes need to be made, and Jim Bollman (right or wrong) is near the top of my list.

Mo Hall impressed the hell out of me on that one run.

Anyway, just wanted to start by saying something. More will come as I have time to shake off this numb feeling. Not from the loss itself, just the whole thing.

BNuts is going down in flames.

Positives:
The pressure is off. This can still be a good to great season.
Some of our bandwagon is going to go away. HUGE plus IMO.
Some of our more overzealous and cocky players might pull their heads out of their asses now.

Are you suprised in the self destruction of Bucknuts? The load just got a bit lighter for the horses carrying the bandwagon fortunately. (I am typing rather oddly, I jsut read a really good book and it is affecting my speech, or in this case typing).

Clarity, I'm very disappointed obviously. We will have to see the Robert Reynolds clip for at least one week straight. I can handle the loss. Wisconsin outplayed us. To lose and show no class (one player) is very tough to swallow (ha, no pun intended). Truthfully, as bad as we played (on offense) we only lost by 7. Tressel's plan isn't that flawed. If we can SOMEHOW open up that offense. Oh well, not like we don't want more production. Anyway the 19 game ride has BEEN awesome ... thanks Bucks! Let's start another next Saturday.

Playcalling was atrocious, as it has been for a while. I honestly think it all starts up front. So much for the line losing a bunch of weight and being able to do different things on offense. They can't run block and they can't pass protect, other than that they are great. #77 abused the interior of our line. We have way too many athletes to be this anemic on offense. At some point you have to make a change. Not sure if you can blame Bollman though, Tress was calling the plays.

We just got knocked off the horse... time to get back on...

I'm sure stuff like that happens more than one would think (Turbo), however to do it that long, not being in a pile, is asking for trouble (well doing things like that period is asking for trouble).

I think the Bucks paid for that move by Turbo... The refs called several holding calls (they were good calls, we were holding) after that play, however never once called one on Wisky (they were also holding us alot). I think the refs know they should have called a personal foul on Turbo, and prob. thrown him out of the game, however they missed the call. Wisky's starter went out and to even the odds I firmly believe the refs were looking for ways to "make it right" for Wisky.

With that said, Wisky out played... no way to refute that... They deserved the win.

We need to get back together, and figure out how to put more than 10 points on the board... WE WILL NOT CONTINUE TO WIN GAMES IF OUR O ONLY PUTS 10 FRIKEN POINTS ON THE BOARD!!! As good as our D is, we need to get more productive on the O side...

Also, penalties, penalties, penalties... we shot ourselves in the foot several times (more on O, however still on both sides of the ball)... it's tough to complete third downs when they all seemed to be third and "forever"...

The team needs to show we have backbone, and are indeed one of the top teams in the land, and come out hungry and CRUSH THOSE FRIKEN HAWKEYES!!!!!!!!!!

The Tressel Vessel hasn't stopped, it just got on the wrong rail... it will get back on track, and keep pluggin'!!

Tough loss, however it was bound to happen at some point (later rather than now, would have been nice, but it would have occured at some point down the road)...

We'll bounce back....

GO BUCKS!!

random thoughts...

i am disappointed wit the loss, but life goes on... it's not like the Buckeyes haven't lost before...

as for Turbo Reynolds, that was bush league bullshit, and he needs to ride the pine for a couple weeks...

why, please tell me WHY did we NOT try to score for the first 50 minutes??? Tressel even admitted as much in the press conference...

i undertand Tessel's philosophy, but we do not have the Power back neccessary for that style of play... something has got to give...

if somebody beats wisky, we still have a chance for a BCS game, though i think we are headed to Florida for the Holidays...

don't forget that along with all those championship runs at YSU, Tressel had a few 3-8 seasons mixed in...

Bucknuts just needs to be shut down for a couple of days until all the sissy pansy whiner babies settle down...

I love Krenzel to death, but I think mcMullen should be given some more time. He was pretty impressive passing-wise subbing for Krenzel.

Damn, something has got to be done about the OL and the playcalling.

I guess I somewhat buy into the whole 'we can only run certain plays with our line' talk from last year. This line is terrible. You can't run screen plays. The only guy who can really move is Mangold but even when he gets outside to block he doesn't really punish anyone. They are slow and it takes way too long for plays to develop. In Krenzel's defense it's pretty difficult to do a whole lot when you the other team's defensive tackles are causing pressure right up the middle. When he had time to deliver the ball he was ok. He was rusty and he did miss a few passes but that's not surprising considering the weather and the lack of a running game. And don't you need a successful running game in order for play action to work? You have weapons like Jenkins, Carter, Hall, Holmes, and Childress and you struggle to score 10 points? It's just unacceptable, especially with our defense.

Few quick thoughts

I'm staying off the BN board for a day or two. I figure they can have their meltdown without my help. However it's not as bad as I thought it would be over there.

After that choke by Reynolds I was kind of happy to see OSU lose. Only because had OSU won and then ran the table, the footage of that choke would have followed us the entire season. It probably will anyways, but it would have been worse.

Somebody had mentioned the thought of Mike Price as offensive coordinater. I know it won't happen, but personally, I think it would be a nice fit for both OSU and Price. If he came in and turned the O around at OSU it would go a long way towards restoring his reputation. And as far as OSU is concerned, well I'd rather have brett running our offence right now. I thought the players, even MoHall, showed enough skill to put up major points. I just don't see them being utilized effectively.

I've been watching the Buckeyes for 40 years and I've seen the Buckeyes play worse games than this. I'll be watching again next week and rooting for the Buckeyes to trounce Iowa.
I hope the players and the coaches learn from this and step-up to the plate.
People better get used to Tressel's philosophy because he ain't going to change it; not after he's won 5 championships with this philosphy. He's missing a running game and it isn't going to get better until the Buckeyes find better backs and a O-line that can block. I think the O-linemen can do the job with the exception of Bishop and, unfortunatley, Stephanovic isn't healthy. Bishop is the weak link in this O-line IMO.
