The Ohio State University Women’s Tennis Team is moving onto the Round of 16 for the first time in program history after defeating UCLA in Round 2 in Columbus at the Varsity Tennis Courts, 4-1.

Under the watchful leadership of Head Coach Melissa Schaub the Buckeyes have increasingly gotten better. In the 2012-13 season as Interim Head Coach the path became clear rather fast. With back-to-back appearances to the NCAA Tournament in 2014 & 2015 – it only gets better for 2016.

UCLA earned the right to advance into the second Round by defeating Notre Dame on Friday the 13th, 4-1. Their season is now over with a 15-6 record and a National Ranking of # 27.

Today’s victory extends the Buckeyes winning streak to 15 – a Program record. The Ohio State University has dropped just 4 team points during this 15-game winning streak. They are currently 30-2 and are Nationally Ranked at #4.

Next will be Georgia Tech who earned the right to move on with a sweep against #13 South Carolina, 4-0. The Yellow Jackets #17 improved to 19-8 for the season. The stars for the Yellow Jackets that the Buckeyes will face are: Kendal Woodard, Paige Hourigan, and Rasheeda McAdoo.
The Buckeyes are strong, though. A determination is flowing evenly through their matches that indicate prosperous results for them.

Today’s win breaks down like this:

#1 Singles:

#3 Francesca Di Lorenzo, OSU (1) 7 (2) 6 – Win vs. #17 Catherine Harrison, UCLA (1)5 (2) 3

As I mentioned, next up is Georgia Tech. They will confront the Yellow Jackets @ 8:00 p.m. on Thursday May 19th. I will be back with a preview and the location of play – as well as where to find it on the radio or television … let’s support our Buckeyes. They are looking mighty good.

Until then…

GO Buckeyes!
