OSU Women's Basketball Recruiting/Projections/General Discussions

Got it......they don't call me 'glass half empty' for nothing! Thought it was fourteen women's BBall schollies, but I'll take another. Still not sure how the numbers work out to keep within fifteen. I DO like the players that are being stockpiled, except these ACC xfers will want to play early minutes, and the ladies that signed up as freshmen are waiting their turn. See, I can see shadows in noonday sun. There's nothing I'd like better than to see the Lady Bucks win it all - closest they've come is with Katie Smith in the championship game. Go Bucks. I agree, Pugh would have done well, but when coach brings in older players at your position, the handwriting is on the wall. I'm happy seeing how the kids with the ACL's (what, four of them?), are playing their way back onto the floor.

I hope that you do know that in women's basketball there are 15 scholarships to play with unlike the men's program where there are only 13 scholarships. I am still trying to figure that one out. I highly doubt if there are any shenanigans going on so be at peace with yourself:biggrin:

Title 9 to help balance out the large numbers of football schollies for which there is no equivalent female sport.

The rich get richer.

Multiple sources confirmed Sunday that former University of Kentucky women's basketball guard Linnae Harper will enroll at Ohio State for the winter semester and continue her playing career with the Buckeyes next season.

Harper left the Wildcats before the beginning of the 2015-16 season. She played in 34 games as a sophomore, starting 17. She averaged 11.5 points per game and led the 'Cats in rebounding at 7.1 per game despite being 5-8.

Harper can practice with the Buckeyes immediately.

The Chicago native is out of Whitney Young High School as is '16 OSU recruit Kiara Lewis.

Harper would join current Buckeyes Kelsey Mitchell, Stephanie Mavunga and Sierra Calhoun as former McDonald's prep All-Americans.

A starter in 17 games a season ago as a sophomore at Kentucky, Harper earned SEC all-defensive honors. A 5-foot-8 guard, she led the Wildcats and ranked seventh in the SEC with 7.1 rebounds per game a season ago. Harper also played for the United States this past summer in the Pan-Am Games on a team that also included Mavunga.

Did not take long for McGuff to fill that vacancy left by Pugh transferring.

I have no information whatsoever on what is going on with women's basketball recruiting but I hope that McGuff is on the stick because a few players have already left the program and he loses a bundle after the upcoming season. He might find his way out the door just like poor old Thad in a couple seasons if he does not step it up quickly.

Edit: Upon further review Ohio State does not have any commits in the top 100 for the 2017 class and not in the top 60 in the 2018 class and quite a few of the 2018 top players are already making commitments. This could be the start of something bad.

I wonder what happened that fast when everything seemed to be going rather well, boom.... Kiara Lewis and Tori McCoy both transfer...very puzzling.

I think there might be problems with this program that nobody knows about. It will be interesting to see what happens after the Mitchell sisters graduate or whatever. It also will be interesting to see if their dad is retained. Just one man's opinion.

I was wondering what a LeDee might do to a possible Ahrens commitment. I know that they are somewhat different players but it seems like they might compete for the same position and playing time or maybe I am way off base.
Also, if CH can get LeDee, Weaver, and Muhammed, it would be fine with me if he would take 2 other recruits. Sparty has a class of 5 so why cannot Ohio State have a class of 5. There really is not much out there next year anyhow.
I need a basketball commit or three :yay2:

Wrong thread, buddy!
