I've seen a ghost today.

Without the benefit of watching the tape, I'd venture a guess that this is Adams' best game as a Buckeye. Seemed to come off the ball well, and was aggressive, especially in the second half. Hopefully, this is the start of something big for #75.

I have to agree. Started to rewatch the game (until the kiddos took my remote) and was paying attention to the line play. Mike looked very good today from what I've gone back to watch. Great game for the big guy!

There was one play in the 2nd half on a run by Boom where Mike was abusing some poor defender 8-9 yds from the LOS. By far the best play I've seen him make in his OSU career.

Saw that as well...9 yards downfield and finished the block driving the defensive lineman to the turf. Had a fantastic day today.

Last play of the 3rd. Boom for a first down. Big Mike just goes after #6. Takes his hat right off the kids head... Just like a Sate Penn kid, bringing [strike]knives[/strike] a machete to gun fights and shit.

Glad to see Big Mike making the journey from almost wash-out to a great Left OT. Don't know what clicked, but I wish I could bottle it. He is growing better and better. Would like to see him against an elite DE, and hold them (well, not literally hold) zero sacks (Bowl game would be nice). This year and next will tell the tale on whether Mikey becomes an instant millionaire or not. Here's hoping he does......

Ohio State spotlight: Mike Adams, LT

Mike Adams has acquitted himself well in his first year as a full-time starter at left tackle for Ohio State.

"I'm extremely proud of him; he has come a long way, confidence-wise, knowing what to do, blocking well," said junior center Michael Brewster, Adams' classmate. "I'm just really anxious to see how much of a jump he is going to make even from the end of the season to next year."

Adams started a few games last year, but he was the only new member of the full-time group when play began this season. Nagging injuries and a two-game suspension at the start of last season had set him back, but he now appears to be playing like the lineman many had expected when he, Brewster and fellow junior right tackle J.B. Shugarts were given the moniker "Block O" as part of the 2008 recruiting class.

Now comes a final exam of sorts, even before the end of Adams' junior season. He often will line up across from Iowa's renowned defensive end Adrian Clayborn today in a key Big Ten game in Kinnick Stadium. A first-team All-Big Ten selection a year ago, Clayborn is the leader of the Hawkeyes physical and aggressive front four.

"This is why you come to Ohio State, you want to play against the best guys, play on a big stage," Brewster said. "This is Mike's opportunity, kind of a coming-out party.

"He's got a big challenge ahead of him. Adrian Clayborn is a great player. But I have a lot of confidence in Mike, and as long as he does what he's taught, I think he'll be fine."

Mike had a solid performance in the Iowa game. From today's presser:

Link

REPORTER: How did Mike Adams do in his battle with Clayborn?

COACH TRESSEL: Mike did a great job. Mike graded a winning performance. There were one or two times that Clayborn flushed us, but, no, Mike Adams played a good football game. Jim Bollman thinks he may have done as good or better a job than anyone did against Clayborn. And Mike has gotten better as time has gone on. He's a good football player and I think Justin's been good for him, with a veteran right next to him, but I thought he did a good job against Clayborn.

Very happy to see Mike make the commitment needed to utilize his God-given talents.

Here is to an All-American Senior year.

GPA

I hesitate to use the words "about time," because all these kids develop at different rates -- physically and mentally. Regardless, it's wonderful to see him play at this level.

Seeing him tear that State Penn kid's head off last week is one of my personal highlights of the year.

Here's to watching him tear off many more heads!
