Out-Of-State Players to Watch

'15 MD DL Adam McLean

11W - One To Watch: Adam McLean

4/24

"Ohio State is in the top 10 schools I like, I know that," he said. "They will always be up there, no matter where my recruitment goes. I've always watched OSU and I feel like they have traditions and beliefs that I value. From what I've seen, their guys work hard and Coach Meyer is really good with getting to know you as a person and the guys there really enjoy the fans and the entire Ohio State community."

'15 NC LB Tanner Muse

Rivals Free - Withers Checks on 2015 Linebacker

4/30

The Ohio State coaches are out in full force again this weekend, checking on prospects all over the nation during this Spring Evaluation period. On Monday, Ohio State co-defensive coordinator Everett Withers was in the state of North Carolina and one of the prospects he checked on was Belmont (N.C.) South Point linebacker Tanner Muse. The 6-foot-4 205-pound prospect has some interest in Ohio State but was surprised by Withers stopping by.

"Coach Withers came by the school (Monday)," explained Muse. "It's a school I'm interested in. (Ohio State) has sent me letters and camp invites but I never thought they would come see me, being so far away."

Muse is aware of the tradition at Ohio State and that is something that has caught his attention when it comes to his interest level in the Buckeyes.

"The program is fantastic," he explained. "They are one of the top five teams in the nation and I just know that they have a thing for winning."

Now that Muse knows there is some interest on Ohio State's end, the next step will be setting up an unofficial visit to Columbus to try and get a feel for the campus.

"I'm going to talk to coach Withers," he continued. "I'd like to tour the campus and the facilities soon."

'15 CA DL Jacob Daniel

11W - 2015 DL JACOB DANIEL

5/15

It's not often that a 6-foot-4, 300 pound monster along the defensive line becomes a fan of a college because of the guy playing quarterback, but that's exactly what happened with Clovis North (Fresno, Calif.) sophomore Jacob Daniel. What's rarer still? The team that Daniel grew up rooting for was about 2000 miles of his hometown of Carson.

The quarterback and school?

Troy Smith, Ohio State's 2006 Heisman Trophy winner.

"Yeah, that's true," Daniel said. "I grew up liking the Buckeyes. I remember growing up watching them and Troy Smith, the thing he did really caught my eye."

Since then, it's been Daniel who's been catching the eye of college coaches, he's already collected 11 scholarship offers, including offers from California, Fresno State, Iowa, Miami (Fla.) and Wisconsin. He's not yet heard from Ohio State, but he makes no bones about wanting to.

"I'd love to hear from Ohio State, to get a scholarship offer from them," the 16-year-old said. "They are one of my favorites. Coach Meyer is a winner, he produces winners. What's not to like?"

We seem to be hitting VA hard for 2015, just like we're hitting GA hard for 2014. I still don't think it has to do with coaching sitiations, just that those regions have strong depth in their respective years. I'm sure coach Everett is getting all through VA finding the cream of the crop

'15 TN DB Elias Cane

Rivals Free - Buckeyes tracking 2015 corner

6/30

The Ohio State coaching staff has been very active in the state of Tennessee recently and that certainly looks like it will continue in the class of 2015. One prospect that the Buckeyes are tracking is Nashville (Tenn.) Ezell Harding Christian product Elias Cane. The 5-foot-9, 165-pound corner holds six early offers and says four other programs are showing interest, including Ohio State.

"Right now I'm getting a lot of attention from Oregon, Vanderbilt, Tennessee, and Ohio State," said Cane. "Those are the schools that are showing me some interest that haven't offered yet."

Cane had originally planned to camp with Ohio State last week but his transportation fell through, he is now hoping to make it to Columbus (Ohio) at some point in the fall.

"I want to go to a game for sure," he said. "I've heard a lot about their tradition and stuff so I want to get to a game this fall."

'15 MI QB Alex Malzone

Scout Free - Malzone Camps in Knoxville

This weekend, Malzone will attend his last camp of the year, Ohio State'S Friday Night Lights and he has been in contact with the Buckeyes already.

"I've been talking to Coach Coombs a lot, he came to Rice during the spring evaluation period and I've talked to him ever since. I was going to try to go to a three-day camp June 13-15, but that got pushed aside because of baseball, so I wasn't able to go to that."

DAVID MOORMAN - 2015 OT NORTHVILLE (MICH.)

I didn't get to watch the lineman very much because they were on the other side of the field, but we were able to catch up with David Moorman after camp.

Q: What did you think of Friday Night Lights?

A: It was crazy. I've never been to a camp like this. Playing in the Shoe under the lights was an awesome experience and I had a great time.

Q: Was this your first time at Ohio State?

A: Second. I came down in early June. Hopefully I'll be down a couple more times if they'll have me.

Q: What do you think of Ohio State?

A: It's overwhelming. The first thing you see in the main building is the Heisman trophies and the glitz and glamor of Ohio State. Then you come here and meet the coaches and learn from them. It was awesome. The program is awesome. The brotherhood is awesome. I'm blessed to be in the position I am in.

Q: What coach did you talk to today?

A: Coach Coombs. He recruits my area. We have a good relationship, we talk on the phone a lot. Coach Warriner said he very interested in me. He told me I improved a lot, I worked my butt off.
