2018 Out-of-State Players to Watch

Looks like one to watch closely...

Ohio roots have Georgia linebacker interested in the Buckeyes
...when a player like Michael Harris (Tucker, Ga.) is eager to hear from you, it’s worth doing a little investigation. That’s what is happening now between the country’s 13th-ranked inside linebacker and Ohio State.

“I was raised in Ohio,” Harris told Land of 10. “I lived there my first couple years. I’ve been back a few summers and still have family up there. I was up there last summer.”

Harris has offers from Alabama, Auburn and Georgia among his top 15, but it’s rare to find a prospect from the South who views Ohio State the way he does. He has been talking to the Buckeyes and didn’t hold back when discussing what a potential offer would mean to him.

“I’m hearing from the boss man, coach Urban Meyer,” Harris said. “(Quarterbacks coach Ryan) Day, Mark Pantoni and (new linebackers coach Billy) Davis. We’ve talked about (a potential offer), but they want to know me better. One thing I don’t have is someone to drive me eight hours up there.

“I’ve always loved that school and always said I was going to go there. If my dreams come true, it just shows me that anything can happen if I put my mind to it. All the work that I’ve put in is for that offer to come. It would mean a lot to me.”

IL TE Luke Ford
- Carterville (Ill.) tight end Luke Ford continues to pile up offers. Oklahoma was the latest, but before that, Georgia, West Virginia, Florida and others extended offers. It is early in his recruitment as he has been in basketball and unable to take many visits. Everything should ramp up this month when he hits the road. Several schools who have not offered continue to keep in contact and several of those programs, like Ohio State for one, could change his recruitment greatly if they offer.

IL LB Jack Sanborn

Jack Sanborn breaks down recent Buckeyes visit
“I visited on the 24th of February,” he said Tuesday. “It went well. I had a chance to sit down and talk with all the coaches except (head coach) Urban Meyer. He was out of town for a charity (The Buckeyes Cruise for Cancer).”
“The Buckeyes really like me,” Sanborn added. “We’re just building more of a relationship. I sat down and talked with (linebackers coach Billy) Davis for about an hour, and then did the same with (offensive line coach Greg) Studrawa. My mom and I had a good time and we really liked the campus.”

There’s at least at a tentative plan for a return trip this spring.

“They talked to me about coming back for a spring practice and told me that they will be over at my school in April two times,” he added. “I don’t have anything scheduled yet. I probably won’t take any other visits for a couple of weeks.”

One of the most interesting prospects that I've ever seen! An absolute mammoth kid/human being at 6'9 396lbs! I just wonder how effective he'll be with that size in college. He'll absolutely maul every D lineman in HS, but I wonder how that height and weight will work in college. And how his stamina would be if he goes to say an up tempo spread offense as opposed to a pro style. I wonder how not having much experience would hinder him at the next level. Size only gets you so far but he's an interesting prospect to keep an eye on
