Re: Johnston will major in education, which he started pursuing in Australia. “I want to finish my degree and do this (punting),” he said. “To be able to get both out of it has been amazing.”

I'm so impressed with Cam already, his control is some of the best I've ever seen as he consistently nails punts on the 10. He's a secret weapon for us and he also gives us some great trick play options due to his athleticism. Wouldn't be surprised if we saw that used in the next couple weeks....

Johnston Second-Team

Punter Cameron Johnston, who is tied with Cody Webster of Purdue for the Big Ten lead in punting average (43.5), was named a second-team freshman All-American by College Football News. The freshman from Geelong, Australia, leads the nation in percentage of punts downed inside the 20 at 63.6 percent (28 of 44) and he is second nationally with 29.5 percent of his punts downed inside the 10 (13 of 44).

One-half of Johnston’s 44 punts have been fair caught. Ohio State, as a team, ranks 11th nationally in net punting with an average of 40.0.
