OSU saw both Scruggs and Kradel in person in the last week. And Kradel got a quick offer. I think Scruggs lacks the size OSU is looking for on the OL. Kradel is a stronger, thicker kid and they might prefer him.

“I don’t really have a leader but I really liked the Ohio State visit and the culture they have there, it’s just unreal.”

Kradel tells PSN that Urban Meyer is recruiting him as an interior lineman, maybe at center.

“I feel like my timeline will be mid-May and it definitely got moved up. I have a great relationship with Coach Peterson and Coach Narduzzi, and I will go where I feel like home at and can grow as person and a player not where who ever pushes for me the hardest,” said Kradel.

Unofficially, Kradel tells me that right now his top 4 schools are (no order) Pitt, Ohio State, Maryland and Rutgers.

Favoring OSU, Maryland and Pitt...was planning to commit in June but that could be moved up...wants to see Pitt again who is recruiting him as a DT.

These low ranked 3 star interior linemen that the staff finds seem to work out more frequently than our highly regarded guys lately. Granted that Boren and Elflein have special powers being from Ohio, the staff seems to have some success in this area, so if he is a "TAKE" I definitely trust it.

I'm a big fan of ratings on the macro level. I'd really like to see a study done strictly on OL rankings, because my limited observation is that they're pretty worthless.

It makes sense, it's the hardest position to scout. The physical transformation is staggering. The technique changes almost as much. The competition is trash and usually not within miles of what they'll face in college. Compare that with watching wr/DB drills at a camp.

Even the brilliant millionaires in college fail constantly with OL scouting and development. The not-college-hired scouts who see them 1-3 times in person (and have to get pretty good ratings ) are naturally going to be worse, especially since that may not be their primary value to the network (see Bill Greene, who does a great job with that stuff but it's clearly not as lucrative as his connections and inside info).

Kradel has much more overall size than Elflein at this time when comparing both when they were in HS.
