Have any of you old goats (or your spouse) ever had a hip replaced?
My soon to be ex MIL had both of them replaced after separate falls - and lived in my home to convalesce after both replacements.

I still have extra stair handrails and multiple bath/shower bars I put up to remodel for her visits.

My grandmother did.

Sorry to hear about your bad hip, BK.

Not mine. I'm fine (physically......mentally is another story)

It's Mrs. Katt with the bum wheel. I'm just trying to figure out how much effort I need to put into getting out of helping her afterward.

We have a 60 year old friend who had one replaced last month. She has rheumatoid arthritis and her joints are in bad shape. Her feet are so bad she can't wear enclosed shoes! She was literally dragging around that leg in constant pain. Now it's like she's taken 20 years off her legs. Amazing difference it has made in her life. And her insurance company recently dropped her so she had to use her life savings ($60,000) to have the procedure. Some people are going over seas to have this work done.

12 days since surgery and the difference is incredible. Off of the walker and onto a cane for a bit. Within a week of surgery, she was already getting around better and in less pain. Modern medicine is amazing.

Enjoy it while it lasts.
