Paul Haynes (DB Coach Minnesota Golden Gophers)

you know you spend waaaay to much of your time posting on message boards and not in the real world when you read this and the first thing that comes to your mind is hawaiianbuckeye. you then have to stop and think to yourself, "he can't coach the dbs can he..?" :p

i can use the fact that its monday as an excuse right? :p coach hayne sounds like a great addition to the team. he's walking into the least set in stone group on d. but the rock solidness of the rest of the d should provide him with ample padding to get his guys up to speed and on the same page.

welcome coach :)

Holy Buckeye said it- He is STOKED to come home, coach with JT and not against him anymore and be a part of his dream!!

His playing history is indicative of someone who was highly motivated. This will carry over...he also looks like a tough fella...

Welcome aboard. To the dismay of some it appears that Tressel is going to be around for a while.

Added Haynes, who is a graduate of DeSales High School in Columbus, "I had an opportunity to both play and coach against Tressel-coached teams during my career. It will be nice to finally be on the same sideline."

I grew up in the St Matthias, St Francis Desales and Brookhaven triangle and I can tell you, we would have done anything to play for Ohio State. It was an unbelievable connection to the Buckeyes. I am pretty certain this is not PR and the he is for real: this is his dream. Now, maybe he can help the Buckeyes give us ours!

Welcome aboard Coach!

I wonder if Haynes will target the DBs who are 6'0 and up the way Tucker did...

My guess would be yes wad. For the simple fact that JT is high on big corners as well. I know he and Tucker both were advocates of the taller bigger CBs. This trend started back when Tress got E.J. & Ashton. They made mention of going after corners with some size.

Paul Haynes, defensive backs coach

On Northwestern's offense

"They have a great running attack, great running backs. They have great balance and try to spread you out. They have good control passing the ball, so a lot of times pressuring doesn't help."

On the battle for the third safety position

"Jamario (O'Neal) will probably be the first guy to go in the game just because he has a lot of experience. Aaron (Gant) is still young, he's still learning."

On the 2004 Northwestern game, an Ohio State loss in overtime in Evanston

"We watched the '04 game this week. We wanted to remind everyone and a lot of the guys were not here in '04."
