Penn St. game to be at night on Oct 8th

expect to pay an ass load to stay in state college, anyone going i would suggest altoona i guess, its about 100 miles away. there are some hotels along 80 but with 108,000 i would assume a lot of thotels would be at a premium. i was planning on going but i am not sure for now with the news of a night kick.

I agree, and I said I was wary of the game... however they have a remarkable amount of improvement to make... our poor offense at that point in the year was far ahead of their offense...

Yes King and their WR (Williams?) could have an instant impact... I just don't feel quite as worried about the game.

I think it helps that the team will already have a big night game at home under their belt and a BCS-bowl game/possible NC on the line. This could be very good for revenue and the polls if we play well.

I think JT's record in away openers is 2-2 - UCLA (2001), Cincy (2002), Wisc (2003), NCST (2004).

I think he's 1-2 night on ESPN - NW (2001), Wisc (2003), NW (2004).

Considering McMullen barely pulled this game out in Happy Valley 2 years ago - I would be concerned about this game.

"NightmaresDad" and "JaxBuck"

You both have expressed worries about this being a night-game, but you should calm those jitters.

tOSU has fared pretty well in their night games. We are 25-8 all together (6-0) at home. I know this isnt an OUTSTANDING record but we have played some of our best games at night (ie. OSU/Miami - MNC title game).

Go look at ScarletArrows post and tell me again.

Our total history of night games is completely irrelevant here. What matters is that JT has had trouble with B10 road games at night after the bye week.

We've lost the past two years in that exact same scenario to teams we had no business losing to. PSU always plays us tough at home (we've won exactly twice there since they joined the B10).

Will we have the better team? Sure, but there's enough intangibles at work here that make it a very scary game imo.

Im with you 100%.
I have had this game pegged as a possible slip up since I saw it was an away game after a bye week.
Now that its a night game, its really going to scare me, especially if we get through our first 4 games unscathed.

In NO way am I painting this game to be anything less than a battle. Even in some of our best years PSU plays us hard, but I am not TOO worried about the night game having any affect on the Bucks. Seems that the night game is really a factor when playing big games (OOC, rivalry, bowl, champ, etc.). Personally I feel that if we can get by Texas in a night game, than our confidence wil be more than enough to do both fill their stadium and guide us through to a victory. ....MAN! I CANT WAIT TILL THE NEW SEASON STARTS!!!LOL  :wink2: :tongue2: <!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

As an update to the PSU game discussion, if they do indeed lose all 4 of those players to suspension it will make a big difference. 2 starting OL and 1 starting DT along with an OL backup.

Thats quite a chunk from a team with its share of questions coming into this season already.

Regardless, I still think that outside of scUM, this is our most loseable game.

. . . especially in October . . . around the time of the full moon.

Jax, in my opinion, you are one of the better analysts on this board. But don't you think we're beginning to over analyze this thing?

Tressel has had 3 away games following a bye week here at tOSU, he has lost all 3.
UCLA in 01, Wisky in 03, and NW in 04.
I dont like that trend.
Lets just hope we buck (no-pun intended :)) that trend this year.
