Penn State at tOSU, Oct 30th, 7:30 PM, ABC

This is a great breakdown. My only issue all year has been with Stroud NEVER keeping the "read" option. How many times last night could Stroud have pulled it on 3rd or 4th and short and just walked for a first down?? It would obviously also open up the run more later on if he only kept it a few times a games. If he doesn't want to take a hit that's fine. Just slide after the line to gain. But down the stretch here Day is going to have to make Stroud pull it a few times to make the playoffs.
From Stroud's post game I'm not sure they are real reads. He mentioned not pulling it and going rogue. At which point the question is why aren't they reads?

Also as much angst as we give Stroud the big problem yesterday. Regardless of how you feel about Pro Football Focus this is telling.

I am not putting Stroud down.

I just believe all of use were getting sick of seeing Henderson run inside directly into a blitz time after time. If Day isn't giving him the option to pull it I do believe that's a mistake.

I just day dream about how even more ridiculous this run game would be if teams had to respect the QB.....

Was anybody here sitting in A deck? It seemed loud as hell from way up in 11C.
We were in 24A. I thought the crowd was good the first drive or 2, then seemed to back off the rest of the half. With about 6 minutes to go in the 3rd quarter it seemed to get really loud and stayed that way the rest of the game. Unfortunately the crowd didn't seem to have an effect on Ped State (no false starts when it was loud). Then again, they probably wouldn't have been called if there were false starts. There was a play in the 4th quarter when there was a Ped State defender in the neutral zone and it wasn't called.
The best thing was we were able to get a W over our RIVAL.
(Yes, I know they are not our rival. They have never been our rival. They never will be our rival. They are just an above average team that we play every year. We have 1 rival, and we currently beat them like a drum.)

with about 3:30 left in the game, Ohio State up six and needing a score to ice it, Stroud fired a laser beam to Jeremy Ruckert down the seam for a 30-yard gain that put Ohio State into field goal range.
Okay, here's the other great throw from Stroud, a throw that I really doubt that Justin Fields could have made last year. The protection is generally good, but NPF gets beaten badly on an inside move so Stroud has to get rid of the ball quickly with the pass rusher in his face. He begins to throw the ball when Ruckert is at the 40-yard line, before Ruckert is even looking back for the ball. Ruckert got slight separation initially but the defender recovered quickly and nearly got a hand on the ball. If Stroud is a split second late on his throw (like we often saw from Fields), then it's a PBU. Instead, Stroud leads Ruckert perfectly, fires a rocket, hits him in stride, and it's a 30-yard gain that basically clinched the game.

When Penn State takes the field and when they score these guys run around with the 2 flags:

Ohio State needs to get 2 guys with scarlet/grey flags that say "AND WE DON'T" and "GIVE A SHIT" and and follow the above clowns around the stadium....

How ‘bout for next year, two scarlet and gray flags: “You Were…. Relevant”? Question: Is that last word too big for them?
