I might know DingerzforDayz. That Kerry Collins (I'm happy therapy has seemed to turn his life around, but he did have some issues back in the day) story is very similar to one I heard from an 2-classes-ahead-of-me (I'm now 42 years old) acquaintance in my undergrad days.

I'm still waiting for the time to create "michnittlion_v_2.0" That thread is tempting, but just not yet.

Those threads always have a queesy Penthouse Forum feel to them.

I was a junior at Penn State who never believed that I'd get to meet Joe until this one rainy night my car broke down on the side of the road. And who pulled up to help but Joe and Sue. At first, I was too nervous to speak but then I felt Sue's hand softly caress the outline of my now fully blood engorged member......

It's interesting when anyone within the university wants to level legit criticism at cult hero, they first have to write a long paragraph extolling his virtues like some north korean propaganda.

Wait a sec ... are you calling ME a phony? If so, kindly go blank yourself. I'm quite sure that everything I have conveyed in this thread is 100% true (meaning, what I said was conveyed to me, was actually conveyed to me). You might not like my take on things ... on that we can agree to disagree ... but factually, I've been entirely forthright.

I liked and respected JoePa for the things he did for the football program and, MUCH more importantly, the university. But, over and over again on this board I just see hero worship. He was fallible. We can call him on those things and still like and respect him. That I wanted him to move on from the program much earlier than he did, is not a knock on him ... he was already post "retirement age" and it was time, in my opinion, to thank the man for what he accomplished, and move on. That, while he placed a greater emphasis on education and "man building" than the great majority of coaches doesn't preclude the reality that there were still some shenanigans going on, with respect to "academic qualifications and achievements," and these were still just football players, many of whom were jocks first, students second. And I'm not even going to bring up the handling of the Sandusky issue, because there's just about zero rationality that occurs when that topic is mentioned (and I generally defend Joe against his harsh critics in that respect, but I'm also not blindly defending him).

But there's a sizable contingent on this board that think he walked on water, and want him to coach from the grave, not really able to move forward and basically digging their heels in and actually spitting on the university because they feel the school didn't do enough to defend Joe's honor. And, that, to me, is abhorrent. Let it go. Respect his memory and move on. Build up the current and future university and stop living in the past.
