Penn State Cult (Joe Knew)

Well if we don't keep it creative it gets boring. Next can we foul out their best bball player on a technical foul early in the 2nd half? I bet that would be fun.

Well, if we don’t cheat them they’ll dominate the conference. What else can we do? No way to beat them straight up.

Actually, there’s a lot to do in Indy at the BIG Championship game and it’s all easily walkable.

Indy did a great job with the Super Bowl and always does a great job with BIG Championship game.

Now Wiscy fans not wanting to travel there for an ass whoopin I get....

Been there. Not my idea of a good time. Been to the steakhouse with the cocktail sauce so hot you can't taste the god damned shrimp. Didn't find much else to do.

Sorry St. Elmos doesn’t measure up to your high end palate. For a northern City hosting an event like that, I’m not sure where you’re going to find a more walkable event. Plenty of bars, restaurants and lots of stuff going on down Georgia Street. @OHSportsFan care to weigh in.....

Relax, just a little chain yanking.. I've spent plenty of time in Indy and found it to be fine. Just not a destination. As for the setup of the stadium to downtown, that is pretty good I'll admit. My point is more that for someone from a Big Ten school to fly into Indy for the CCG, it's almost always going to be ALL about coming in for the game and then leaving. Whereas flying out to the Rose Bowl, it's often about taking several days around the game to do things completely non-game related and often making a family vacation out of it. My point is that vastly more Wiscy people will choose the latter over the former. Throw in the fact that the former was expected to be a beat down loss for them, and I don't think you can make any assumptions about how they'll turn out in Pasadena based on their attendance last night.

Out of curiosity, have you been to Pasadena?
I haven't been to UCLA, but I've been to the Coliseum and spent a little time in LA area.
The Coliseum is shockingly trashy. I remember rows of port a potties outside... next to the food stalls. Gross. I was in the Corps at the time, so by no means big... and found the seats sized way too small.
I take vacation to somewhere warmer at least every other Winter... lately every Winter... I have no plans to ever return to SoCal**. It's not Technicolor for me. It's a sprawling dump. Traffic literally makes me want to go on a murder rampage. If terrorists blew up LAX***, they'd be doing us a favor.
Indy is no vacation spot -- but it was within 4hr driving distance from StL, Chi, and CBus. I thoroughly enjoyed going the last 2 years, when I was living in those cities. There was plenty to do if you're just there for 1 evening. Also met Sevyn Banks mom at hotel breakfast and researched my family' Civil War history (they have original 54th Indiana' enlistment papers at the Hist Society... also meant free parking).

Getting off-topic...
We should have a Semifinal we can drive to every year, same as SEC.

Edit:
Also agree entirely with your final points about expectations. My impression from 2017 was that they were already experiencing Indy-Losing-Fatigue and low energy / expectations. A 1 year hiatus and replaying a team that pummeled them earlier probably didn't change that.

**And b/c I know some people will assume, politics has nothing to do with it. If anything my politics are relatively close.
*** In the early morning hours when nobody is there.

I've been to Rose Bowls. It's an entirely different (and infinitely better) experience than going to the Coliseum. The only drawback is that Pasadena is out there, so it's best to split your trip into two. Get a hotel in Pasadena in the day or two leading up to the game and then another one convenient to what else you have planned.

And yes, with Delaney gone, the new commish had better fight tooth and nail to get home field first round games if when the playoffs expand to 8. Delaney's Rose Bowl Uber Alles shit was way out of line and made me turn against him despite the good things he did (BTN, hockey conference).

Wholeheartedly agree with you as a destination Indy as not where I’m spending my vacation

For the BIG Championship it’s a great location. Unfortunately, what you noted is the issue with trying to get these games in more favorable locations for the BIG.

If you’re ever stuffed up that shrimp sauce will clear you right out.:groove2:

It’s a conspiracy!! Delaney just had to fuck em one more time before he retired.

... but what exactly is there to do ?
My mom and Aunt went last year and it amounted to Parade, Ocean, Shopping, Food, Band Band and more Band.
2 of those things you can do anywhere, and I'd throw in Night Life too. I've been in too many of the 1st to care. And the 2nd is neat for like... 15 minutes.
I do like the Band... and Aunt's grandson is in it... but that has nothing to do with Pasadena.

Nobody seems to discuss exactly what there is to do in Pasadena that's different than anywhere else. Cities are all the same. When I think of cities where there's a lot to do... Osaka comes to mind. Kuala Lumpur. Jakarta. Munich. DC area. Bangkok. Singapore. Paris. Kampala/Entebbe. ... and I'm sure some places in S. America, which I need to visit.
LA... what are people doing ? Going to Disney? (there's more than a few of those -- also, Cedar Point) Studio audience ?? Crashing Hollywood ?

For the BIG Championship it’s a great location. Unfortunately, what you mated is the issue with trying to get these games in more favorable locations for the BIG.

I think that's misleading, though.
Why is the Rose Bowl a thing? Because the Midwest travels.
The MidWest still travels to games we can drive to... I realize SoCal businesses will lose money if we're not traveling there for our vacation. But maybe we'd take vacation to Peru instead.
