Penn State Cult (Joe Knew)

So, after reading in the scUM shenanigans thread about their now recruiting an unranked QB after moving on from Stroud, I went to the 247 board to see who bad they were, and once I got there noticed that the Pedsters are doing even worse. Although they are ranked slightly ahead of scUM (#10 vs #12), they have more commits (28) than anyone in the top 50, zero 5* commits, a 4*/3* ratio of 11/17 vice scUM's 12/12, and a lower player average (89.31 vs 89.73). The talent gap continues to widen between us and everyone else in the conference...

So.. if they're gonna wait to move on until they're at the top of the conference for two or three years.... they're... not moving on?

1990: "Hey guys? You want to know what would be REALLY FUNNY? I say we join the Big Ten, dominate them for 3-4 years straight, and then leave their asses. Can you imagine the look on their faces?"

2019: "This is gonna be so great!!!"

It’s the Big 10, so let’s face it, with CJF a lot of the problem is his color...that does not sit well with the good old white boys club of the Big 10.
"Though the athletes of today are certainly superior to those in my days; we miss the clean cut young men and women from those days. Watching the Idaho game on TV, we couldn’t help but notice your–well–awful hair. Surely there must be mirrors in the locker room! Don’t you have parents or a girlfriend who have told you those shoulder-length dreadlocks look disgusting and are certainly not attractive.

I dont think that's the same thing.
I comment a lot about officiating in the middle of game threads.
I cant ever recall blaming officiating for a loss afterwards. We always have a chance to win it. And overcoming adversity (perceived or real) is a character building moment that reflects on the team' story any given season. We also get our own breaks like Wilson' false start.
Even in the middle of the game, it's not some conspiracy that they're out to get us. More a feeling of incompetence, or conference tendency to ignore certain calls (holding) across the board.
In a general sense... and i get this with NFL and neutral games... a feeling that a lot of officiating crews want to be the star of the show a little too much.
It's a very different approach than BWI believing they only lose because of the officiating, that there's a conspiracy led by Delany to keep them down, etc.
Maybe you are right, but again a lot of that derives from the fact that these mutants just don’t think they should lose.

All I know is that for years around here there was this talk about how we always had more penalties called against us than anyone else. JWins even had a chart for it or something like that.

Dude, do you even BWI?

Its not about the number of penalties called, but rather WHEN they are called that shows the true bias. Every penalty called on PedSU completely changes the trajectory of the game. When they have the deck stacked that hard against you, its impossible to overcome it.

I’m well aware. They are douches. My only point is that whining about the refs is just about the most normal thing they do.

You’ve got it backwards. During a three-year stretch of the Tressel era. Ohio State was dead last twice and second to last once in all of FBS in penalty yards against opponents. That’s objectively verifiable and extraordinarily unlikely as a random occurrence. Bitching about that was not unreasonable.

And it's not just the penalties called on them but the ones not called on their opponents. During their glorious independent days, a visiting team would suddenly get hit with a flurry of holding calls the moment they were starting to click on offense. When they joined this bullshit midwestern conferencez that all stopped. Coincidence? I doubt it. It was ordered by Deleaney.

Whining about reffing is silly. If you think that there was some “agenda” against tOSU, well then I’ve got some of that beachfront land in Nebraska I’m ready to sell ya.

That was 2005/06-2007/08, when we were ranked #119, #119, and #120 in opponents penalty yards per game. And the gaps between last and 2nd-last were not neligible either. Disregarding those statistics as some sort of random occurrence seems silly.
