Percy Harvin (Buffalo Bills)

Percy Harvin wins 2009 AP Offensive Rookie of the Year

Vikings' Harvin is landslide winner for top offensive rookie honors

Harvin's unique combination of speed, intelligence and toughness
made the transition from college to the pros startlingly smooth for the
runaway winner of The Associated Press 2009 NFL Offensive Rookie of the
Year award.

"It's a tremendous honor, but that's not our team goal," Harvin said
Wednesday in a conference call with Minnesota reporters. "To win that
and lose the championship would be a failure."

We missed you this year in Gainesville, but congrats on the fantastic first year.

Vikings? Harvin has migraine attack at practice

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Percy Harvin(notes) was taken to a hospital by ambulance after collapsing at Thursday?s practice, and coach Brad Childress said Harvin suffered another migraine headache attack. Harvin, who has dealt with migraines most of his life, has been unable to practice for most of training camp because of the headaches and their debilitating symptoms.

Harvin returned to the field on Monday after missing more than two weeks, but at the beginning of Thursday?s workout he experienced another episode that was scary enough for the Vikings to halt practice while their teammate received medical attention.

?To see a guy go down, it?s never a good thing,? defensive end Ray Edwards(notes) said. ?Just pray that the Lord is with him and he gets back to us safely, and to his family most importantly.?
Childress said that Harvin?s episode was triggered when he looked up into a mostly cloudy sky to field a punt during a special teams drill. Harvin went inside to see team physician Dr. Sheldon Burns, then came back out to the field.

Soon after, Harvin was seen doubled over and trembling. Players and coaches stood in front of him for privacy while reporters watched from a distance as Harvin received medical attention.

Sources: Percy Harvin confronted coach

MINNEAPOLIS -- A confrontation between Minnesota Vikings coach Brad Childress and receiver Percy Harvin grew so heated Friday afternoon that coaches and players were forced to separate them to prevent a physical exchange, according to team sources.
The confrontation, which was first reported by The (Minneapolis) Star Tribune as a heated argument between the two, occurred during a light Friday afternoon practice, Harvin's first of the week after suffering a sprained ankle last Sunday against the New England Patriots. Harvin was seen limping badly during the portion of practice open to reporters.
According to sources, Childress questioned Harvin's effort during the practice. When Harvin took exception, Childress suggested Harvin submit to further testing on the ankle. The debate escalated and "was as close to physical as you can get," according to the source.
After the two were separated, according to sources, a teammate told Harvin: "You just did what a lot of us have been wanting to say for years."

Childress is having too many disagreements with his players. Someting tells me he will be gone before next year.

Brad Childress' support shaky

Vikings coach Brad Childress should have already coached his last game in the opinion of some Minnesota players.
And amid the chaos, Vikings owner Zygi Wilf has been soliciting opinions from veteran players regarding how much support remains for Childress.

Say anything about Percy you want, but NEVER question his heart or effort. He played with migraines, throwing up on the sidelines, he played with a bad heel and ankle, he played when he could hardly walk on Thursday, but suited up on Saturday and got pain injections/heavy wrapping and found a way to score. He played hurt in so many big games - and contributed to the win.

He was limping the day before the BCSCG because of his hairline ankle fracture that we were calling a "sprain", but he virtually won the game for us, even though they gave the MVP to the wrong guy - Tebow.

Question Percy's heart?? He is a warrior, Childress. You are an ass-clown who has lost the team.

My only criticism of Harvin is that he didn't, well...what was the phrase Sir Mike Tyson used?..."stomp on his testicles"

As a Vikings fan and MPLS resident.... fuck Childress. This guy is horrible; he merely happened to catch lightening in a bottle last year with Favre having perhaps the greatest statistical year of his career.

I was booing Childress a couple years ago and wanted him removed; I have been to games at the dome a few years ago in which over 50% were booing him. Favre only staved off Childress' firing. This idiot took T-Jack rounds before anyone else in the NFL would have; now we are stuck with this travesty as our backup b/c they won't let him go due to his contract.

As for Harvin, we love him up here. Two things though:
1- He needs to stay healthy. Yes there were migraines, but he also is one of those people that continually has been getting dinged one way or another.
2- He needs a coach that knows how to use him. He could really blossom if Childress was gone.
3- He was getting some good tips on how do do certain things from Moss, but for the good of Harvin's career the less time he spent around Moss the better.

Nebraska Scout $

Percy's coach, Chris Beatty, said that the recruiting process is definitely picking up right now. If he had to guess on a favorite, Florida State would get the nod. Percy has narrowed his list of favorites to USC, Miami, FSU, Virginia, VT, Michigan, and LSU. Coach Beatty says climate, playing time, and how a team plans to use Percy will be the deciding factors. He does not seem to be playing games with any schools he is not interested in as he told Nebraska, who contacted him on Signing Day, that he appreciated the attention but he was not interested.
Found this funny. He narrowed his list back then to 7 schools, 2 of them in the sunshine state but UF was not one of the original list of 7. Urban is a total stud.
