Matta To Watch 2016 In-State Big Man

24/7 $ - Potter Is About To Blow Up

Was at the Purdue game on Sunday and then Coach Matta watched him play on Monday night. Had 21-12 in a win and only played in the first half. Starting to hear from Texas, Duke, Wisconsin and Virginia. Recaps his visit to OSU...calls OSU and Duke his dream schools.

2016 will be a small class...my I would really like to see some insurance on Giddens. Potter would be a nice insurance policy...as would Ward who seems to be trending towards playing 4/5. Maybe Thad doesn't see room for both and chose to offer Ward.

@BSnowScout: Ohio State offered in-state product Micah Potter this evening. 2016 center had a quality junior season
I'm still curious if the plan is to take 2 big men next year or if the coaches now feel there is not a drop off in talent between the few big guys with offers. Does anyone know how the 2017 class looks for PF/C with possible interest with OSU? Someone would have to leave the program by 2016, besides D'Angelo, to fit the 13 scholarship limit if Matta gets 2 big men and a wing next year.

This really belongs in the General Discussion thread so I will take it there.

In this article from 11 Warriors, Potter says that he and Funderburk do not play the same position so that Derek's commitment will not have any effect on his.
Last week, when Funderburk was making his decision, Potter was in Italy, getting a chance to play against some of Europe's best talent on an Ohio travel squad.

"It was amazing over there," Potter shared about his experience in Italy. "We played five games, against amazing talent. I had 13.8 points a game, 12.4 rebounds a game, 3.8 assists per game and 2.6 blocks per game, according to the final stat sheet they gave us at the end of the tournament."

Potter said he and the Buckeyes were in regular contact during his trip. One topic of conversation? How Funderburk's commitment impacts him.

"I talked with them during the entire trip," Potter said, laughing. "It impacts me a little, but the Buckeyes are still very high on my list. They really want me to commit but they're not killing me over it, if that makes sense."
