Micah Potter will remain in the Big Ten.

The Ohio State forward who announced his intention to transfer just two days before the season began has found his new home. Potter will enroll at Wisconsin in January and will eligible to suit up for the Badgers in the 2019-20 season, the program announced Monday evening.

Potter visited Wisconsin for a weekend in mid-November before committing on Monday. He will be able to practice with the Badgers during the spring, but will not be able to play in games.

Potter, a 6-foot-9, 240-pound big man, averaged 4.1 points for Ohio State both in the 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons.

"I have no bad blood with coach Holtmann or Ohio State or anything like that," Potter said to Wisconsin's website. "I just wasn't maximizing my potential, I wasn't maximizing my potential because I wasn't fitting, and I wasn't playing well. I was performing only in flashes. The style of play was not what fits my skill set."

Potter's minutes per game decreased from 14.1 as a freshman to 10.1 as a sophomore. He was likely to serve as Kaleb Wesson's backup at center for the second year in a row.

"The reason I waited so long to make the decision (to transfer) was really because I love Ohio State – I grew up a Buckeyes fan and I tried to make it work as long as I could," Potter said. "But in the end, I needed to make a decision that was best for me. I needed to go somewhere I would fit in a little better."

Noah Potter, Micah's brother, remains committed to play football in Ohio State's 2019 class.

When he said he was going to transfer, it did not bother me as much as it did some other guys but now that he has transferred to another Big Ten school that sort of bothers me. Perhaps before he committed, he should have looked around a little more and found a program more suited to his playing style.

The only positive note coming out of this is that his brother probably became more familiar with Ohio State while he was here for his 2 unproductive seasons. I can hardly wait for him to become eligible and come back and play in Columbus.

Wisconsin's Micah Potter waits on NCAA for eligibility ruling
Potter played the 2017-18 season under Holtmann and says he wanted to try to finish his career at Ohio State. But Potter met with Holtmann last fall and, Potter said, “it didn’t seem like they had any plans for me.”

translation: "the plans were that i was not entitled to a starting spot, so i left."
