COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Watch Derek Funderburk dunk.

The 2016 Ohio State basketball commit will put his athleticism on display this weekend during the American Family Insurance High School Slam Dunk and 3-Point Championships.

The event is actually being held on Friday in Pearland, Texas, in conjunction with the NCAA Tournament Final Four this weekend in Houston. The slam dunk contest will be aired on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. on CBS.

This will be nothing new to Funderburk. He's no stranger to dunk contests.

Now playing at Hargrave Military Academy in Virginia, Funderburk won his team's preseason dunk contest in October. When he was still playing at St. Edward, Funderburk finished third at the 2013 MaxPreps Holiday Classic Dunk Contest in California.

Seemingly at a bit of a disadvantage because of his size at 6-foo-9 (it usually looks cooler when a shorter guy dunks), Funderurk still has enough tricks up his sleeve to win a dunk contest. You can watch some his work below.

Funderburk is the only Big Ten commit taking part in the dunk contest, which also includes a couple of five-star prospects in Rawle Alkins (Arizona) and Markelle Fultz (Washington). Former Buckeye Austin Grandstaff took part in the 3-point contest last year.

Here's another intriguing player. Looks a little uncoordinated with the ball, but you can't coach 6'9" with a crazy vertical. Ohio State blacktop dunk contest - he threw down the between-the-legs windmill. Coming from St. Ed's and Hargrave Military, he should be a little ahead of the curve for a freshman. Anyone seeing many minutes here at the 4 or 5? Thompson should be good for 25 minutes at the 5, Loving for 30 or so at the 3/4. Maybe Funderburk starts out getting 5 or 6 minutes a game, but if he brings something special to the court, that number goes up?

Kinda like Wesson, its difficult to find much time for DF. I thought too that he might get some time at the 5, but he is really thin and it sounds like Potter has impressed at the 5, so not sure DF will play much there. I have to think a limited amount of PT (5-10 mpg) would come down to DF or Wesson but no time for both. Could be a situational thing where some games DF fits the matchup better and other games its Wesson.

I have to assume that KBD, Loving, Tate and Kam are going to combine for about 115 minutes a game (thats 30 each for the forwards and 25 for Kam), which only leaves 5 minutes at the 2-4.

Funderburk: He's kind of in the same spot as Wesson, and he's almost a luxury as a 6-foot-9 wing you can throw out there without a lot of pressure who could potentially have a major impact with his size. He's not a traditional four-man, but when he's on the floor the Buckeyes are essentially playing two big men.

As he continues to develop his shot and game, Funderburk can be a guy who benefits from better spacing as a slasher who's a tough matchup near the rim.

"He reminds me of how I was when I came in," Tate said. "He is a rebounding machine. He kinda gets me if I forget to box him out ... The way he offensive rebounds, I think one week in practice he had doubled everybody."
