PF Derek Funderburk Jr. (transfer to NW Florida JC, transfer to NC State)

Funderburk is a gifted athlete, but has never shown himself to be a true top-100 type of basketball player. He's the type you love to have on the roster to work with, but I wonder if he thinks he's better than he really is. The article makes it sound like Thad Matta had something in mind when he red-shirted last year, but given the fact we had such a full roster of forwards (Thompson, Potter, Bell, Tate, KBD, Wesson), Funderburk wasn't going to get any more run than he was in practice anyways. Here's hoping he doesn't buck the new sheriff.

Classroom work reason for suspension.. Holtmann has talked to Derek's dad and his father was in complete agreement saying that he needed to do some work in that area..
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Derek Funderburk's suspension from the Ohio State basketball team is still ongoing, new coach Chris Holtmann confirmed on Friday.

But Funderburk does have a chance to get back with the team in time for next season.

"I really want him to be successful," Holtmann said. "He's talented, but he has some work to do in some areas outside of basketball. I'll let you guys kind of figure that out, but one of them is in the classroom. He has some definite work to do. When we see progress in that area, and significant progress, then we'll reevaluate things. But we need to see definite progress."

I did not realize that he was playing at Northwest Florida State College. That is in my neck of the woods, close to Eglin Air Force Base. I might have to go watch them play this year. They always have a lot of talent on their team.
