PF Kyle Young (Official Thread)

Yep, I miss him already.

Yeah, reminds me of like Chris Jent, i.e. doesn't put up spectacular numbers, but when in the game he's a definite "difference maker" giving it everything he's got.

I just hope he didn't sustain another concussion:
After suffering three concussions in a 12-month period, Ohio State's Kyle Young left Sunday's NCAA Tournament game against Villanova with an apparent head injury.

I love him to death but if I was him I wouldn't play in Europe like most do with that history. Just one more hit could affect his ability to function life normally

This. I hope he is ok and would love to see him be able to play at the next level, but seriously concerned on the concussions. The last one was really scary and after they show his significant other and their child in the stands...yeah, just not worth risking it. But all that aside, came in to say what a hell of a career and will go down as one of my favorite basketball Bucks. Best of luck whatever the next steps are Kyle.

Yeah the scariest thing about the last one is most of the others were hard hits. That last one looked like nothing that happens 10s of times a game and players without concussion issues would have sprinted back town the court without as much as a flinch

But after leaving his final game as a Buckeye with what appeared to be a similar ailment, Ohio State head coach Chris Holtmann said Young's latest injury is not as severe as the previous ones.

“Obviously we needed Kyle to close the game in order to push over the top. Most importantly, Kyle’s health is fine,” Holtmann told 97.1 The Fan on Monday. “It was obviously the medical staff’s call to keep him out. They did some evaluating back in the tunnel. They had him run and do sprints in the back and get a feel based on how he was feeling. If there was any concern whatsoever, they were not gonna put him in.”

FORMER OHIO STATE FORWARD KYLE YOUNG ANNOUNCES HE WILL NOT PURSUE PROFESSIONAL BASKETBALL CAREER

130857_h.jpg

“It’s a bittersweet feeling knowing that I won’t be playing basketball anymore, but I can find some peace in knowing that I was able to leave everything I had out there and give everything 110% to Ohio State and all of Buckeye Nation,” Young said in a video accompanying his announcement. “The game of basketball holds a very special place in my heart. I will forever be grateful for the places it has brought me, the people I’ve been able to meet and the opportunities I’ve been given because of it. It will forever be a part of me and who I am.”

A true Buckeye. There are very few guys that I’ve seen on a basketball court that played with the intensity and had an understanding of the game like Kyle.

Thanks for everything you’ve done, Kyle, congrats on what seems like a wise choice, and best of luck in all of your future endeavors.

Late to the party here but agreed 100%. Kyle gave it all here and goes down as a legend in my books, epitome of a tough player that just got some bad luck on the concussions. The last one almost had me tearing up it was so bad. He absolutely made the right decision to not risk it and pursue future endeavors outside of basketball. Hoping for the best for him.
