By B Snow. Decomitted from Tennessee.

Look for some action....

I was wondering why we were never in on him because I read fairly often that he was a pretty good ballplayer and then all of a sudden he committed to UT. I wonder if some of the guys on has All Ohio Red team had been talking to him and Ohio State's interest.

Interesting quote from his Dad about distance being an issue.

NEWS: Aaron Craft Opens it up!*|*highmajorscoop.com

Aaron was not available for comment, however his father John quoted: ?This was not of a personal matter, Coach Pearl has been great and it is nothing against the University or their staff. It was of distance and what is best for Aaron. We will keep all options open and hopefully find the best fit for Aaron.?

NEWS: Aaron Craft Opens it up! | highmajorscoop.com

6-foot-3, 2010, PG, Aaron Craft from Findlay-Liberty Benton (OH) has re-opened his verbal commitment to Tennessee according to a phone call earlier today from his father John. Aaron who is a consensus Top 75 player in the country will continue playing with All-Ohio Red in July and will continue the search for a school next year. Aaron was not available for comment, however his father John quoted: "This was not of a personal matter, Coach Pearl has been great and it is nothing against the University or their staff. It was of distance and what is best for Aaron. We will keep all options open and hopefully find the best fit for Aaron." Aaron has been invited to the NBA players camp June 17-21st. Inside Prep Sports will be there first hand to see how Aaron does against tomorrows stars!

Anyone seen Craft play? Just from reading some reports, he sounds a little like Kramer from Purdue but with a little better offensive game. Both good high school football players who excel at playing hard-nosed defense in basketball.

OSU close to making its point?
The way it's going, All-Ohio Red is going to have to change its name to All-Ohio Scarlet.

The dominant AAU team of Ohio-bred players has two 2010 prospects (Jared Sullinger and Jordan Sibert) committed to Ohio State and two more (J.D. Weatherspoon and Adreian Payne) weighing offers from coach Thad Matta.

Today comes word that Red's point guard, Aaron Craft of Liberty-Benton High School in Findlay, has rescinded his commitment to Tennessee and is re-opening his recruitment. That tells me that Matta has changed his mind about the 6-foot playmaker and, if he hasn't already, will offer him a scholarship.

If that happens, expect Craft to accept the offer and, a year from now, become the latest candidate to fill a glaring hole in the Buckeyes program.

"It is nothing against (Tennessee) or their staff," Craft's father, John, told the recruiting site HighMajorScoop.com. "It was of distance and what is best for Aaron. We will keep all options open and hopefully find the best fit for Aaron.?

In other words, why go all the way to Tennessee to play in a major conference when the Big Ten school two hours down the road offers the same opportunity?

Before Craft committed to Tennessee a year ago, none of his other offers was from a major-conference program. Matta apparently changed his mind after getting reports of Craft's play on the AAU circuit this spring -- coaches were not permitted to attend tournaments.

The Buckeyes have been recruiting other point guards -- Cory Joseph, Phil Pressey, Lavonte Dority, Trevor Releford, Joe Jackson -- but none is from Ohio nor a good bet to climb on board. A commitment from Craft would get the point-guard hole plugged before the busy July recruiting period and allow Matta to focus on 2011 and beyond as well as wrapping up the 2010 class with Payne or Weatherspoon, or both.

I've seen Craft play football, where he is a QB for Liberty Benton. He is a phenomenal athlete and if he focused on football, he could be a Big 10 caliber player imo. I saw him vs. Ursuline in the state championship game and he really impressed me. As far as BBall goes...not sure:biggrin:

Aaron is a legit 6'2. very strong player. solid shooter and very unselfish. very high court I.Q (hince the 4.0 in class and 32 on ACT as a sophomore) :).

Rivals has him measured in at 6 ft, 179lbs, this year. Personally I dont care if he is 6ft or 6ft3, if he is a great point guard and the staff wants him then so do I....very impressive grades. Go Bucks

By Brian Snow...explains his decision in his own words...says it was nothing against Tennessee and Coach Pearl handled the situation with nothing but class but wants to be closer to home...admits he grew up interested in playing at OSU but has not idea where he stands with them right now.

I want the kid from Ohio. Joseph and Craft are really not that far apart when it comes to rankings (maybe 6-7 slots) and our chances of getting Craft are much greater if we offer now. If we wait on Joseph to make his decision, we might lose both of them... who knows. Offer Craft and get it done.
