PG Demetrius "Meechie" Johnson, Jr. (transfer back to tOSU)

Meechie is leaving. Only God knows why. Bummer.

Probably because we have our future PG in Thornton and are chasing multiple transfer lead guards in the meantime.

I think Meechie is making a smart decision. Find a team where maybe he can have more of an on-ball role and possibly one that plays more up-tempo. Meechie's game is more suited for pressure D and transition offense.

Just seems like he was overrated coming out of high school for whatever reason and isn't a high level D-1 player. Obviously wish him the best in his next stop

Well, he hasn't played like one yet; however, I think the jury could still be out on how good Meechie could be. He did have a couple injuries (i.e. ankle sprain and facial fracture) that hampered his practice/playing time and (maybe) his development this past season.

With that said, the fact that we got Tanner Holden and reports that Ohio State has contacted several other guard in the transfer portal leads me to believe that Chris Holtmann isn't satisfied with the current guards (which includes Meechie) on his roster.

Regardless, I wish him well. In his case I definitely think "Once a Buckeye always a Buckeye" applies here.

“Since a kid, I’ve always dreamed of playing at The Ohio State University, and I will always be able to say God gave me what my heart desired,” Johnson said in a post on Twitter.

I can think of a few MAC schools or perhaps a Murray State where he could fill a such a role and get a lot of minutes.

That's not a knock. Some good ballers have come from those programs.
