PG Duane Washington Jr. (3rd Team All-B1G, 1st Team All-B1G Tourney, New York Knicks)

“Everybody wanted to go to Michigan, Michigan State growing up where I'm from, at least,” Washington said. “It's just that extra little chip in the back of my head. I'm on the rivals or I'm on the dark side for the guys back home. But in Columbus, I went to the good side. All those things are jumbling through my mind. Gamers do gamer things, and players make plays. Just try to go out there and do whatever I've got to do for my team to win.”

I've been on the record saying I couldn't tell whether I am happy with Washington than I get mad at him with his decision making. After that performance, which was akin to an Olave wolverine- killer rendition, he's going down in my books as a fond memory. Dude has been lights out lately and has largely cut out the mental errors. Going to need that to continue to make a run in the tourney.

GET ON THE TRAIN. If Ohio State's going to go deep in the tournament, it's going to be because Duane Washington Jr. caught fire. So why not give him his own pre-tourney hype video?

My biggest fear this postseason is that he could be playing his way into the NBA Draft, which kind of ruins my plans for Ohio State's death machine of a team next year. But if he can drop 25 points a game in the tournament, I'll gladly let him announce his departure with the Final Four nets around his neck.

Even though he's in the NBA draft pool, it would qualify as a surprise if he opts to stick with the decision of going pro.

Washington, a third-team All-Big Ten selection last season, is set to be at the forefront of a team destined to begin the 2021-22 season in the top-10. He averaged a team-high 16.4 points on a 41/37.4/83.8 shooting split last season, adding 3.4 rebounds and 2.9 assists while leading the Buckeyes with 32.2 minutes per game.

At his best, Washington has proven himself to be a deadly scorer in college basketball. He set the Big Ten tournament championship record with 32 points against Illinois last month, put up 54 points across two games versus Michigan last season and scored at least 20 points in 10 of his 31 games played last year. Inconsistency, both within games and between games, has been an issue throughout his career, though. After his standout performance versus the Illini, Washington went 7-of-21 for 18 points in the first-round NCAA tournament loss to Oral Roberts.

Washington does not appear on any rankings done by NBA draft analysts in the media. He'll likely have to improve his offensive efficiency, shot selection and defense before having a realistic shot at getting picked next year. However, he'll go through the pre-draft process this offseason considering he's able to get feedback from NBA decision-makers while working out in front of them while retaining his collegiate eligibility.

Washington Jr. was the No. 167 ranked recruit in the class of 2018, the 14th-best player in California (where he played his senior year of high school), and the 17th-best combo guard according to 247 Sports. He was offered scholarships by 10 schools, but only three of them (Ohio State, Clemson, and Missouri) came from the power five conferences. He’s averaged 11.4 points per game over the course of three seasons in Columbus, including a team-high 16.4 this past season.

Their inclusion in the G League Elite Camp means neither have yet been given invitations to the NBA draft combine. However, a "select number of players" who are standouts this weekend will be afforded the opportunity to participate in the NBA's combine as well, which is scheduled to be held June 21-27 also in the Windy City.

Liddell and Washington have to make decisions of whether or not they're staying in school by July 7.

I hope they prove me wrong but I do not have a good feeling about Washington or EJ returning next season. I really have no basis for my feelings but I just have them and I think for both of these guys it is the wrong decision.
