PG Shannon Scott (Long Island Nets - NBA G-League)

Scott should be really good - I'm glad OSU got him. One thing about him that people might not know is he's a real thief out there - he has quick hands and is great at stealing the opponent's dribble. I think it would be best if OSU would play Scott and Craft together in the starting lineup - together they could really rack up the steals and make it a long night for opponents who don't take care of the ball especially well, plus they would take care of ball really well together. At this time, that's the lineup I think OSU should start with next season - of course, I reserve the right to change my mind :)

?Shannon obviously has been committed to us for a year or so and he is a true, pure point guard,? Matta said of the 6-foot-2 guard out of Alpharetta, Ga.

?He has great athleticism, speed and quickness. I love his understanding of the game. He comes from a great pedigree of basketball. I love the fact he?s a guy who has already won a state championship and I know his team is ranked in the top three in the country again this year.?
?They are similar in a lot of ways,? Matta said of Scott and Conley.

?Shannon is one of those guys who never gets rattled. As I watched him this summer, he was a guy that was doing everything he was supposed to do. As games got tight, he tried to take over control a little bit more and that was something that Michael always did. He was just sort of facilitating things until it got tight.?

One thing I'd like to know is whether Jim Delany had any influence in Scott's recruitment. Obviously, he's not supposed to influence recruits being the Big Ten commish. But Delany was a college basketball player for UNC, and played on some of the same teams as Shannon Scott's father, Charlie. So did Delany speak with his old college teammate about how great the Big Ten is? I really don't know how close Delany and Charlie Scott are - but I'd like to know.

One of the great things about living near Milton is I get to play Lifetime basketball with Shannon from time to time....

I was playing with him earlier tonight and even got the opportunity to try and guard him.... needless to say yikes.

I absolutely love this get. This young man is exactly what tOSU needed. He is a true point guard with great range, and a pass first mentality, he also has the athletecism to play great defense.

He and Craft will have some epic battles in practice, making each other better. His quickness will improve Crafts defense against quicker type guards and Crafts strength and grit will make Scott well rounded.

With he and Craft manning the PG position, tOSU is in better shape there since at least the Conley, Butler year.
