Pittsburgh Pirates (5x WS Champions) Ain't Nutting happenin'

It's business as usual for the Buccos, spending the lowest percentage of income on payroll in MLB - but look at that beautiful ball park! (That you paid for even after voting against it) :roll1:

Before today, the "big" moves this offseason included Matt Joyce and Sean Rodriguez signing with other teams and the immortal Daniel Hudson being brought in as a bullpen arm. Today trade-deadline acquisition Ivan Nova signed a three year deal for a whopping (by Pirates standards) $26 million. He pitched very well in PNC and will hopefully provide some stability in the rotation in the pursuit of 82 wins, maybe 3rd place, and probably nothing else.

Trade rumors have been swirling around Andrew McCutchen, who will likely be gone by 2018 regardless so they might as well try to get something out of him. Despite a few nice runs in recent years, the song remains the same - fun on a budget, if we're lucky. :ohbrother:

I've neglected this thread, forgetting to update it with the Bucs' latest personnel moves to try to improve this season. Oh wait, they haven't actually made any. :getout:

I don't know the Korean word for "knucklehead" but if I did I'd use it here. The guy has shown he can play, but stupidity is getting in the way. :argh:

Report: Jung Ho Kang denied U.S. visa, may not play for Pirates in 2017

Kang’s Dec. 2 DUI arrest had something to do with it. He’s been sentenced to eight months in jail for the crime, which has been suspended. However, Kang has two other DUI arrests on his record, and those didn’t stop him from obtaining visas to play in the U.S. in 2015 and 2016.

Playoff hopes are slim this season but there's no shortage of corporate-sponsored promotions to distract fans from wasted stars, salary dumps, low payroll and profits.

Free shirt Saturdays and more!

That Liriano "deal" last August looks awesome. The Bucs gave away two top 20 prospects to get the Jays to take on his contract, and in return got a bust pitcher the Jays didn't think anyone would take. This Spring Liriano looks like the Frankie of old while Drew Hutchison just threw batting practice to the Red Sox for a six-run inning yesterday. :roll1:

Look at the bright side. They aren't the Reds.

Both have 5 WS titles and the Reds latest one is more recent. :pirate:

At least both have 3 more than the other MLB team in their respective states.
