Pittsburgh Pirates (5x WS Champions) Ain't Nutting happenin'

Felipe Rivero blew a 10-6 lead in the 9th, the Tigers thought they won in extras but after they finished the dog pile replay (correctly) ruled the runner out. Pretty funny that Gardenhire then got tossed for arguing with the home plate umpire (who had called the runner safe) because he was pissed about the replay. :slappy:

Five and a half hours later, the Bucs won 13-10 (Polanco 3 run jack). Opening day will probably end up being the highlight of the 2018 season.

Five run first holds up in the home opener, 5-4 over the Twins. :pirate:

That's four wins in four games, pretty much guaranteeing a huge losing streak is on the horizon.

After suffering their first loss to the Twins, the Bucs bounced back to beat the Reds 5-2. They're 5-1 for the first time since 2003. :pirate:

Unfortunately, the 2003 Pirates won just 75 games...the same total as the 2017 Pirates.

Bucs let a 4-0 home lead versus the Reds turn into a 7-4 loss, exposing the false hope of their 6-2 record to date.

Only once in 8 games has a starter gone 6 innings. He was pitching a no hitter and got pulled after six.

In 5 of 8 games the bullpen has allowed multiple runs. Relying on scrub cast offs like Kontos, Smoker, and Michael Feliz was never a good plan. It's a cheap plan.

The icing on the cake was the new third baseman leading off the 9th inning (down by 3) and getting caught stealing. That's beyond stupid. :bonk:

eh, it could just be math

No matter how bad a team is (The Reds) they are going to win 60-70 games a year.

Yesterday was one of those imo. Doesn't mean the Pirates aren't shitty, just means that when Pythagoras wants his, he is going to get it.

Each team basically starts 50-50. It's those other 62 games that sort them out. For the Reds and Pirates in 2018, it's probably the difference between 4th and 5th in the division.

Pirates are 3-0 in home openers this season: their own, Detroit's, and the Cubs'. Today's 8-5 win lifts the Bucs to 8-2 for the first time since 1992, their last division title. :pirate:

Nope, still not buying this team.

For the second time in just over 6 months Josh Harrison gets HBP and breaks his left hand, putting a damper on the surprising 11-4 start.

Someone get that man one of those Bagwell batting gloves.
