Pittsburgh Pirates (5x WS Champions) Ain't Nutting happenin'

Jon Niese's first outing was pretty much what I expected - Jeff Locke 2.0. The Bucs rotation to start this season is the worst it's been in a few years. Nicasio's Spring better not be a fluke, and the kids (Taillon/Glasnow) need to hit the bigs this summer (and produce). Otherwise, finishing over .500 may be the only realistic goal.

That said, they did rally to win Niese's start and go to 2-0 with another win over the Cardinals. :pirate:

Pirates sign OF Gregory Polanco to a 5 year $35 million contract. If this kid keeps progressing as expected it'll look like a steal. Early indications are the Bucs outfield is as good as anyone's in MLB.

Last season the Bucs went toe to toe with the Cubs and Cards, but struggled with the Reds and Brewers. Early indications are they're picking up where they left off. :argh:

I remember a week last year when the Pirates took 3 of 4 from the Cardinals to get with 1.5 games of them, then proceeded to get swept by the Brewers. It's early, but this week was eerily similar - sweep the Cards, lose 2 of 3 to the Reds. :hoke:

Why...it almost seems as if you are suggesting that the Reds as a whole are not very good at baseball? I think if you come visit our thread, you will find that the vast majority of Reds fans here are extremely optimistic about the talent and ability of this baseball team.

So much for the hot 4-0 start, working on their 5th loss in six games. Why?

2nd in OBP, 16th in runs scored. Getting tired of seeing them get men on then do nothing with them. :argh:

Well, the 6 game winning streak was bound to end - not winning often when you commit 4 errors - but the 15 wins in April were 3 more than last season. First series with the Cubs begins tonight. Bucs had better check the sloppiness at the door for this one.

Dear Pittsburgh Pirates,

You have a losing record vs. the Reds this season. You might want to get your shit together, for your sake, and the Reds. Cincinnati has something big that they're working towards and you aren't helping matters by losing games to them. Seriously.

We had a losing record against them LAST season, too. The inability to beat the Reds (and Brewers) kept the Bucs from winning the division. :argh:

Pittsburgh will do well to finish over .500 with the current rotation. It'll be another month before Taillon and/or Glasnow - who are killing AAA - get called up because of Super Two. But it's irritating as hell watching the hitters - who are doing well so far this season - struggle against shit pitchers in the Great American Bandbox.

Imagine if they had runners on base last night for those HR...

They did win though. The universe is back in order.
