The new boss isn’t afraid to shake things up.
The Ryan Day era is off to a blistering start. If you’re keeping score at home, in the 9 days since he officially took over, Ohio State has:
A lot’s gone down, and the crazy thing is that there’s probably more news on the way. Before all that happens, we have to break down all this, and that’s exactly what happened on the latest episode of the Hangout in the Holy Land.
Patrick Mayhorn and I discuss why Ohio State cleaning house on defense is excellent news, try and figure out what the new coaches bring to the table, the seemingly new direction of the program, and more.

- Brought in highly-touted QB transfer Justin Fields
- Hired Mike Yurcich as passing game coordinator and QB coach
- Lost Co-Defensive Coordinator Alex Grinch to Oklahoma
- Parted ways with other Co-Defensive-Coordinator Greg Schiano, and Linebackers Coach Bill Davis (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
- Stole Greg Mattison and Al Washington from Michigan to replace them
- Had starting safety Jordan Fuller, and indispensable slot receiver K.J. Hill both announce their returns for 2019.
- Lost stud QB Dwayne Haskins and should-have-been-a-guard-the-whole-time Michael Jordan to the NFL.
