polls

well after viewing the new top 25 usa today and ap poll i see that Ohio State remains number 4. this is propesterous considering Ohio State, no matter how you look at it, beat no.10 purdue. Meanwhile, LSU defeated lowly Alabama. Ohio State once again gets no respect from pollsters. If Ohio State had been no. 3 it would be likely they could've jumped USC in the BCS. If Ohio State beats Michigan next week they very much deserve the no.3 poll spot and a Sugar Bowl berth.

I am frustrated just like everyone else with the human polls, but I think every voter wants to see if we can beat michigan. No one thinks we can do it and when we do, I think we will finally get the respect we deserve in the polls.

ESPN is reporting that we will very likely be #2 in this weeks BCS rankings.

Let the chaos begin! I'm going to love every minute of this, and it couldn't happen to a better team than USC.

Hey, Trojans, look -- I'm sorry Auburn sucks, and the Pac-10 is top heavy then comically weak. Not our fault.

What's unfortunate is that we Buckeyes have to root against WSU in the Apple Cup. I like the Cougs, but we want them to lose.

This is insane! I have to look on-line to know who I'm rooting for! Some bizarre game involving teams that neither us nor USC play or have played still changes our chances of going to the Sugar Bowl...

I may be in the minority, but this is good for college football. I mean why the heck else would I watch some "random" Conference USA matchup and care who wins!?!? As far as TV ratings goes I think they have maximized their potential. Sure everyone would watch a championship, but then no-one would watch these other games... better to spread it out I think.

Anyway, we have one loss, but still have a chance at a championship. All we have to do now is beat our 5th ranked hated archrival at their place for the third staright time in the 100th meeting of these two teams. I put a downpayment on some Sugar Bowl tix today. This is fun!

GO BUCKS!

Understand completely, TSK. No hard feelings either way. I like WSU and its fans way way more than I do the Huskies, but now it's all about getting back to the title game, should we best Michigan.

Here's a thought... Why don't we both hope LSU and/or USC lose, that way I can pull for WSU without batting an eye. You can still pull for the scUM, we won't hold it against you too much.

USC losing

Clarity,

If USC would just up and lose one of their last two games then my problems are over. If that happens and the Cougs beat the Pooches on Saturday then its WSU in the Rose Bowl as the Pac-10 champion. Then the Buckeyes can whip the Wolverines for all I care, and have your chance at the Sooners. Sounds like a plan to me!

Go Cougars!

Cougs in the Rose, Buckeyes in the Sugar...

I think we have a mutually agreeable arrangement here. If you'll just make a few calls and ensure that's the way this weekend plays out, that would be terrific!

Regarding polls.... I'll be very blunt with what I think... USC has played nobody and Oklahoma played a bunch of Chaches (Chach, like Chachie from Happy Days) and LSU lost to Florida. I'm Big 10 centric but I have the gameplan. I watch every game (at least during commercials) and I see a bunch of weak teams outside of-most of - the very physical Big 10. When you're Oklahoma or USC or even Marshall or Miami (OH) or Bowling Green or Northern Illinois, playing a bunch of practice squads between real contests is going to give you time to prepare for the real big games. All those teams are really good and can beat anybody- but hey- play somebody good a few weeks in a row.

MAC

i have to disagree with slickman about the MAC. it is not filled with the 'practice squads' it once was. the MAC is action packed with some of the best QB's around. just about any MAC team can give you a hell of a game. sure it has it's ass clowns like CMU and EMU but teams like arkon, toledo and the ones you already mentioned are tough. dealing with central florida and CMU is no different than the B10 elite dealing with illinois and northwestern.

amen fuzzypants. the MAC plays good ball these days. whats funny is Marshall is ditching the MAC for C-USA in 2005 (maybe 2004, can't remember). they'll find that C-USA is weaker in football and WAAAYYY too good in basketball and baseball for them to be competitive. i think it's funny.
