Those Trailblazers just can't stay out of trouble. Kudos to the organization for waiving him, though.

Woods pleads guilty to abusing his dog

OREGON CITY, Ore. (AP) -- The Portland Trail Blazers waived forward Qyntel Woods on Friday, the same day the player pleaded guilty to abusing his pit bull.

Woods, 23, appeared in court to enter the misdemeanor plea, part of an agreement following an investigation into allegations of dog fighting. He was sentenced to 12 months probation and 80 hours of community service.

"In light of today's developments, it is clear that the Trail Blazers and Qyntel Woods must part ways,'' Trail Blazers president Steve Patterson said in a statement. "We are confident that this action is both justified and appropriate.''

Woods' attorney Stephen Houze made a brief statement in court that acknowledged the player had not taken proper care of his pit bull, but did not mention dog fighting.

"I've tried to be a responsible pet owner all my life. Because of that, I am very sorry and saddened that my dog, Hollywood, was injured,'' Woods said in the statement read by his attorney. "I also deeply regret the concern this has caused other pet owners and citizens in our community.''

Woods had faced a more serious charge of dog fighting, a felony in Oregon. Promoting or conducting dog fighting is punishable by up to $100,000 in fines and up to five years in jail.

The Trail Blazers suspended Woods indefinitely without pay on Oct. 12. He was in the final year of a three-year contract that would have paid him $1.1 million.

I didn't see a thread - so here's one, albeit late to the game.

Pretty good game going on right now in Portland versus Denver. Denver jumped out early, but Portland leads near the end of the first half and seem to be in control for now.

This team is so, so close to being very good. Roy is obviously a beat. Rudy and Sergio are great together. LaMarcus is very good - they have a lot of great role players. And, of course, Greg.

I just wish that he would play more. Im flipping back and forth between the bowl game and the Denver game and Pryz. is always out there. If I wanted to see him play, I'd check out the old games on the B10 network...

Anyways, thought they needed a thread.

Really intense game. The players and fans are really into it.

is a fun game to watch. Looks like Greg is finally getting close to game shape. This is the best I've seen him as far as getting back on defense and hustling to get into offensive sets. I have seen him hang back a few times on offense, but not nearly as bad as it has been.

A few nice post moves tonight as well....Donnie Marshall, Bostin Commentator, said hes a bull on the block the last time he backed Perkins down.
To your point, bill, I think 36 minutes is the most important stat. Good to see greg staying on the court longer
I made a comment earlier in the year, that I think is coming to fruition right now. Pryzbilla was a more productive player for a majority of the first 30 games, but Greg was quickly given the starting position and a majority of the minutes.

That is paying dividens now because he is finally getting close to game shape. For a guy his size, it can't be easy to sit for over a year and then be expected to get up and down the court at an NBA level.

And he still isn't where he was at conditioning-wise at tOSU. He can get into better shape, but tonight was the first time I saw glimpses of his former abilities throughout the course of a game, not just in 2-3 minute bursts.

I got a kick out of his technical tonight too, after Ray Allen fell into the crowd due to a small nudge from Greg....Garnett and the C's started yapping at him, and Greg said something that made all of his teammates breakout laughing. I wish I knew what he said.

Great win. No Brandon Roy, who the team had been relying on heavily, but they didn't play timid. The Celtic's veteran mind games didn't work this time. Oden had 13 points and 11 rebounds plus 3 assists.
