For RugbyBuck and anyone else interested...

After watching the Buckeyes thump on Wisconsin, keep the postitive Buckeye energy flowing...stop by Beekman Park on the corner of Lane and Kenny and watch the 8th ranked Ohio State Rugby team host the Michigan State University RFC at 6:00 PM. This game is tOSURFC's second and final qualifying game for the Midwest Tournament. A win will put tOSURFC in the driver's seat to regain the Midwest title, something that made it's home in Columbus for many years before it was taken by Purdue last season. Michigan State will be looking for revenge after losing a close game to tOSURFC in 2002. tOSURFC is looking to return to the national sweet 16 for the sixth consecutive year, and it starts with support from the Buckeye community. Admission is free and we will also have apparel for sale online later this fall. I encourage anyone and everyone to come out and see tOSURFC on Saturday evening. GO BUCKS!

I would love to come up. Damn, I may have to see about putting together a road-trip.

Bollocks, it's grandparents' weekend at the school where my wife runs the junior high and my older daughter goes. No way I can scam a road-trip. Best of luck to all the Bucks, rugby and, uh, football.

You mean Head??? Best "Arnold from Collateral Damage" impersonation ever. He played second row and pretty much made me laugh 24/7. How is he? Not sure about Steve Williams...nicknames?

Admission is free...from time to time we have concessions available in the form of burgers and the like, but not sure about Saturday evening's game with the football game being right before. I will find out for sure tonight at practice. You are more than welcome to bring your own snacks and beverages to the game.

I promise that everyone who comes out to the game will enjoy themselves, even if you've never seen rugby before. There a whole lot of running forward, passing backwards, kicking, and tackling. Lydell could watch some our backs and learn a thing or two about hitting a gap at full speed!

Thanks. Rugby is fun to watch in person. Its ok to watch on tv but great to watch in person when you see all the action. Expect four more to be there. Hopefully my wildchild two year old daughter doesn't run out and try to get into a few of those heavy scrums, and try to steal the ball. She'll come out looking like a Beetle Bailey comic after Sarg. gets ahold of him ...
It will be great !! If any of you readers have never seen a Rugby match I highly suggest seeing it. WOW the hitting !!! .. Thanks for the Info Wadc45.

Glad to hear it StoRMinBrutus...and don't worry, we have the field roped off so nobody wanders to close to the action. For anyone looking for some national perspective, here is a latest run down of the top teams in the country...

Because the level of play over there is just a tad bit better over there. They could probably beat Cal or Air Force by a similar score if they wanted to. Imagine Tressel taking the Buckeyes over to play against one of the best American football clubs at a university in England. Wouldn't even be remotely close. But it's great exposure for US teams to play against highly competitive European teams.

The US national team is constantly getting better and just re-signed their head coach, Tom Billups, through the World Cup qualifiers in 2006. The US Eagles can't just sneak up everybody anymore. At tOSU, we had the good fortune of having one of the national team's starting wings helping out at practice all this week. US rugby, especially at the college level is about to take off thanks to the efforts of clubs like tOSU, Cal, Penn State, and the service academies, and also things like College Sprots TV.
