Do any of you guys know if the practice for Monday, August 18th is still going to be open? I believe Dave Biddle said that was going to be the last open one and I wanted to be sure it's still on before my brother and I make the trip in.

It's supposed to be the last practice open to the public. I'm making the drive in to see it so it better be open.

8/18 Practice Observations
Yellow jerseys:
- Mo Hall (assume it's the same knee aggravation, mostly precautionary, no noticeable limp)
- Branden Joe
- Hartsock (because of the hand injury I assume)
- Gamble (no noticeable injury, was catching some kick returns)
- Frost (looked like a slight right knee sprain)
- Bobby Britton
Blue jerseys (no contact in contact situations):
- Lydell (seems fine, spent most of practice w/o the blue jersey, but sat out full contact drills. precautionary)
- Whitner (didn't look serious)
D'Andrea was full go, his slight knee injury seems fine. Pagac, Underwood, and Darrion Scott were full go as well.
Starting DL was the usual. LB's were Hawk, Reynolds, Carpenter. CB's were Underwood and Fox. Safeties were Allen and Mitchell (seems to have put himself in place to start over Salley and Everett, the two's).
Hamby started in place of Hartsock in contact drills. Carter for Gamble. Guilford spent the most time at RB in contact drills. Parker took some snaps as well. Guilford spent a lot of time on his blocking, which seemed to be improved as the day went on.
Schnittker was full go. His back seems fine, as he was hitting the blocking sled hard.
Still haven't seen Kudla at all. Not sure if he was out there or not, as the DL was on the far side of the field for the majority of the time.
Boeckman threw a good ball today. Also has very good size, same height as Krenzel. I'm definitely not writing him off for the future. He looked good.

My observations may not be up to par today. I was talking to a couple bucknuts and wasn't paying as much attention as I sometimes do.
I thought D'andrea took more time at MLB than Reynolds, though both got some snaps there. Mitchell took almost all the snaps at right safety, so he definately got the coaches attention with his performance saturday. Salley played quite well today and had a few nice hits. I'm looking for a real competition between these two for the starting job.
Something I wasn't going to say but O-zone said some, so if they can, I think I can. Fox is getting killed. I didn't see one pass break up by him all day, a few PI, and lots of catches on him. Jenkins and Carter both had their way with him. Deep, short, it didn't matter. I'm wondering if the added weight he put on has slowed him. He didn't have true corner hips anyway, and maybe the added weight is making it worse. UW has two very good WR's, and i'm getting a tad worried.
Jenkins really stood out today. He caught a lot of footballs and just looked very sharp. I thought Carter did a good job and had a few very nice catches, one on a deep ball and two jumping, one on the sideline where he outjumped Fox to come down for the TD. I can't help being impressed with his potential every time I see him. However, we'll see if he can live up to his potential, something he hasn't done yet. Hall had a pretty quiet day, though Holmes caught a few.
Kudla was there today. He was in blue, but I didn't see him running any drills all day. I looked for him early and couldn't find him, but he was watching them do the goalline at the end. Either he showed up late like last Monday, or I just missed him early. These misses snaps have to be hurting him bad. We have too much talent at DL for him to catch up easily.
Guilford has switched to #5 and ran well today. Parker looked good too, and is the better runner between the tackles. At this point, I think i'd be more comfortable starting Parker than Guilford.
Boekman has a quick McMullen- like release, but he seems to not bring the ball up high enough and shot-put it a little. Like Zwick, he's got the size and tools, but his mechanics will need tweaked. No doubt the coaching staff will have that fixed in no time, as they did with Zwick.
There were some great battles between the OL and DL in the on on one competitions today. Olivea actually dominated Will Smith. I saw them go 4 straight times, and Smith never got past Olivea. I was impressed. Step and Tim Anderson went at it, each winning one. Out of the young guys, the DL is lightyears ahead of the OL. Patterson was going by guys easily. One pass rush move and he was by them, pretty much every time. Maupin is a big kid that can move, but i'd be surprised if he doesn't redshirt. Pitcock actually lined up at both DE and DT and looked pretty good at both, and Penton looked very good. I didn't catch Richardson or Green, though I saw both playing in team.

I got there late today at 5:00, but was able to see some 2 minute drills and some goal line drills. There was some heavier hitting today by the defense. Less yellow jerseys today.

Other observations:
CK looked a little off early in practice when trying to connect on 10 yd down-and-out patterns under-throwing his targets twice, only connecting 1 out of 3 times.
However, he looked good during the rest of practice, making some nice lob completions to the corners of the endzone during a drill from the 10 that pitted WR vs. CB, as well as hitting his man right on the numbers with a sharp, crisp pass on a quick down-and-in- pattern that had extremely tight coverage, again from the same area of the field. Overall I think we will see some good passing stats from him this year, especially with Jenkins, Gamble, Carter, and Hartsock as targets.
Troy Smith looks very sharp. Strong arm, good accuracy, quick, runs each drill as if he's "attacking". His size is my only concern-he is not as tall as CK and may have problems seeing over the line, but will most likely overcome this with his mobility and ability to roll out of the pocket when necessary. I believe he will see some game time this year.
Nugent looked very good today--hitting all his FG's early in practice during a 5 min session where O and D lines rotated in to practice FG kicking situation.
BJ Sanders had some nice punts-but still a few questionable ones.
Jenkins looked very good-especially during drills from the 10 where he made catches in the corner of the endzone.
