He's only got to put 15 more pounds (of muscle, of course) on his frame. Not such a laugher is it.

Put Lyons' name on the list of potential 2-way contributors. He worked out as a DB for the Purdue game.

Add to it that we are supposed to have 10 guys in the 2-Deep at OL that are supposed to all be good enough to start.

There could be a lot of surprise players ... only Mangold, TGII, Hawk and maybe Carpenter, Holmes are really high-profile guys.

To the Zwick comment - as I have posted in the past, look at last year's Spring Game and this year's Alamo Bowl : JZ can play in a 3-step, quick-hit offense (maybe because he makes good pre-snap reads?) -- and it shouldn't suprise anyone if he excels next season.

The scout teams should also be much better next year - meaning our 1st unit should be getting a good look in practice.

With the frame and speed that Lyons possesses, this guy could have a huge breakout season, one similar to the 1000 yd receiving year turned in by Michael Jenkins his sophomore year. If he can do that, then expect to see Ginn contribute more heavily on defense.
Kudla imo has already transformed himself into a big, fast and nasty big 10 DE. I think we are going to see a couple of Dublin kids step up. If David Patterson can turn himself into a big and nasty DLman that Kudla has become, watchout.

Quinn Pitcock. He will be on many All American lists at the end of next season. He is prime for a huge season, he started to come into his own late in the season. He has crazy athletism, strength, and finally has learned the technique for an interior lineman. I think that his emergence was the key to the improvement of our defense late in 2004. Also keep your eye on Sian Cotton next season on the defensive line.

The other defensive player that will become a household name is Marcus Freeman. The buzz on him is unreal, and many are saying that he is prime to be something special. I look for him to split time in the middle with MDA and Schlegal. He'll also be a good reserve OLB.

On offense I like the call of Nichol. I think that with great receivers on both sides, you will see Nichol get a matchup on a LB most of the time. This is a battle that he should win everytime. If we can get our TE's going along with our WR's, the running game will most certainly progress.

well, i wasnt joking.. i honestly do think that zwick can continue to improve because at times he didnt look that bad.. and i really wouldnt mind a QB controversy because then it would probably mean that both of them had played well enough to deserve to be there..

Here are my surprises for 2005...

Donte Whitner... becomes the replacement to Dustin Fox at CB and we do not miss a beat. (Since Dustin's true position was safety, why not move a safety over to replace him  ) Then Everett moves into SS.

Jay Richardson & Mike Kudla both explode onto the scene as they use the past two games as stepping stones to give us our pair of bookends.

One of the redshirt freshman offensive linemen from last year come in and take over a starting position. My pick will be Ben Person comes in somewhere on the line (RT or guard) Could be Mitchum... but one of the Redshirt Frosh from last year comes in to start.

Dionte Johnson blows up next year after a full year in the weight room and brings back the power to our I-Formations.

Im going Pass Rusher

To win anything we need a Pass rush and a running game: So Hopefully Vern Gholston will be the pass rusher, and being a long time East-sider(Walnut Ridge "72) Eric Haw will strengthen the running game..and Alex Boone as top freshman
