Projected Scholarship Breakdown

Two would probably be the correct number assuming that Thomas does leave. However, I think it is going to be very difficult for coaches to make written offers to recruits before there is a new CBA in place. There has been some chatter about changing the number of years a high school Player might have to attend college before he can be drafted.

That is true about the CBA, but all college players that are already committed would be grandfathered in.

The 2 or 3 year rule would take place starting at the date if the CBA agreement. Solid point though about coaches 'over signing'

What about Alex Rogers, the walk-on? I'm going to assume he gets a scholarship at least for this year.

Then again, I'm sure if they need it they'll give it to an incoming recruit.
I think a guy who walks on does it at his own risk. If there is a scholarship available, he might get it but then again he chose to walk on.

Alex Rogers is now on scholarship. Still 2 available this year.
Would that be 3 if Thomas left after this year or perhaps even Ross:huh: I would think that would be a wrong move for either of them but one never knows and I guess that type of discussion is for the end of this season.

Then why do you bring it up in a recruiting context? All this scholarship affects is the possible additional scholarship awards to walk-ons in the 2012-13 season; doesn't affect recruiting at all.

Where did he put it in a recruiting context? He simply commented in the 'Scholarship Breakdown' thread that there are two available for this season. Why invent nits to pick?

Edit: maybe you're referring to his 'incoming recruit' comment from back in June?

We're in the "Basketball Recruiting" forum, so I thought that was self-evident.

I just don't want anyone to be confused that this action has any impact on availability of scholarships in any coming season. I'm happy for the young man, but his scholarship is unlikely to be renewed in coming seasons unless Matta can't fill the allotment of 13 with other recruits.

EDIT: I see the confusion. When neilmj made his initial comment this wasn't in the recruiting forum.
