Proposed rule changes (hurry up!)

Not sure, this one was circled the drain a bit.

If I've gotten off track, my macro point/belief is that it's the pitchers being better, not the hitters being worse (all the swinging and missing going on at the MLB level).

Yeah, well someone ought to tell Luis Castillo that pitchers are supposed to be better.

I just wanted to mention that I do also think pitchers are better.

But I also think hitters are dumber. As I mentioned about payroll, at some point someone realized OPS was important, and as it has been pointed out, you get one on the obp side of the ledger and one or more on the slg % side of the ledger.

But I find that to be like rifle ballistics, if you double the velocity, you get 4 times the force.

So, what do you do? You figure out how much you can lower the mass, and still get the ft lbs you need.

So you end up optimizing to 26 caliber (or whatever) high velocity rounds that in so many situations will do the job. But situationally, a .45-70 will kill it dead right now.

Point is the target isn't always 400 ft/yds away. Sometimes its 100.

Reds FO blows their own head off by accident somewhere around step 2

and no question whatsoever hitters are dumber. I sit and marvel at the stupidity of Suarez on any given night when I can stand to watch them. Suarez, in turn, looked like a rocket scientist next to Puig who I believe to be legally retarded.

Kind of an example of the EV thing though, hitters typically make a living bombing 20-30 mistakes a year out of the 600 some odd PA they get. It's the pitchers game if they just don't help the hitters.

Puig is more powder. But if its all how much you neck down the same cartridge, there's a limit. Sometimes you need to make a bigger hole to bleed out.

NBA, NBPA Expected to Eliminate ‘One-and-Done’ Rule in Next CBA

The NBA and NBPA are working to abolish the league’s long-standing one-and-done rule.

Shams Charania of The Athletic reports both sides are expected to agree on lowering the draft eligibility age from 19 to 18 as part of the new collective bargaining agreement. This would allow players to enter the NBA straight out of high school. The change could come as soon as the 2024 NBA draft.

“The NBA set the draft age limit at 19 years old in 2005. Silver said in July that he was ‘hopeful’ for the rule changing in the next CBA cycle, and both sides appear motivated to reduce the age eligibility for the draft,” Charania wrote.
