Pros/Cons of USC (Split)

ESPN Insiders

Two-way talent Jason Gwaltney is another East player turning heads. The North Babylon (N.Y.) prospect will play both running back and linebacker in Saturday's game. However, he definitely want to carry the ball in college.
Maybe someone should introduce Jason to Fred Davis.

We have some pretty hot babes in the summer.

Agreed.

Just walk around campus during the early season games, especially hitting up Lane Ave. A lot of girls love to sport the short skirt and tank tops. Anyone that says that OSU doesn't have hot girls obviously hasn't been on campus very often. I can't begin to count the number of times my buddy and I start with the "Man, if I wasn't married............" talk as we enjoy the scenery.

How do we get into these pissing contests with USC? The Horns do their thing and usually bust heads with OU, UT and the rest of the SEC ante up for their share of Big South stars, the FL schools get their bail bondsmen to recruit Dade County Jail, scUM invades OH and steals a quality kid often with no Buckeye ties, and we go head-to-head nationally with the newest beauty on the recruiting circuit. This year we've been mugged, stabbed, trashed, beaten, slandered, and pillaged yet JT and his team are doing very well. If JG goes to USC, that's fine, I doubt he'll hurt us when we prick the Trojans at the Rose Bowl in '06. I love the way this class of kids is shaping up and fitting with the last three. How soon before the fall pads go on?

Guys, let's please keep this thread on JG...I will split this off to another forum to continue the USC conversation so please do not add anything while I am splitting it

EDIT: The thread is split...fire away.

Should be interesting....I do know that PC tells out of state players not to announce until signing day, so they don't get a ton of instate pressure....or at least a little closer to signing day
or to leave in the middle of the night to hide from the pressure.

Maybe Pete doesn't want them to announce early because of the pressure. But it also serves another purpose.

It may keep from scaring off other recruits with depth charts and it keeps the other schools working/wasting their time. I can't remember anyother school (past or present) that uses this tatic more than USC.

I wonder if he's talked to Jarrett about what it takes to adjust from being a New England kid to a Cali kid.
Maybe he isn't the best kid to ask. Wasn't Jarrett really homesick when he got to SC? Well, until he became their #1 WR, he was homesick, but Gwaltney will be behind Bush/White/Dennis next year, so he will not see the field as much, and he knows that. Whereas coming to tOSU he could be the man right away and, like Jarrett, if he is homesick then instant success could change all of that.

So you saying he should consult Fred Davis to find out what it is like to be the #1 recruit... then ride the pine... then change positions (to FB for JG) and be far away from home and be homesick???

Naw, Pete Carroll was probable smart and gave Davis his jet to fly him away so they would never meet.

He may have asked Jarrett about the long commute from New Jersey/New York to LA. But neither New Jersey nor Long Island is actually in New England.
