Game Thread Purdue at tOSU, Oct 20th, Noon ET, ABC/ESPN2

Watching Wisconsin vs. Purdue on BTN in the 60 minute recap. It shows just how bad this Purdue team has become. I was worried about this game after I saw them play Notre Dame. Now I see a completely different team. If there was every a game to make our defense get confidence, this is it.

Because they auction off all the pink shit and donate the money to cancer research.

http://www.nflauction.nfl.com/

It isn't like NFL teams (or big time college teams for that matter) pay for any of that gear anyway.

That whole thing is mostly a money making scam, along with most of the pink crap companies make. The NFL does wear pink stuff and auction if off for a little bit of money. Yet the pink clothes made for the general consumer only gives 5% of the money to charity. Overall, the pink gear is a huge money maker for the NFL and they get to make it look like they were doing something special for charity. I know people don't want to hear this, but breast cancer has become one of the biggest known causes because it's the biggest money maker for companies (and I am not talking about making money for charity).

If the NFL really cared they would give more than the few million that ends up going to charity, and would not be taking any of the profit from the pink stuff they make. It's the same for pretty much any pink stuff that claims to give money for breast cancer research and awareness. They do it because the added revenue and profit those products bring in way more than offsets any of the money they give to charity. I will let Navin explain...

If you want to support breast cancer research, give your money straight to charity and don't buy pink crap thinking you are doing something that supports charity. You are mostly further lining the pockets of billionaires. Now, with Ohio State stuff, at least a lot of the money goes back to the school. Yet the pink NFL stuff is a money maker hiding behind a charity, plain and simple.

Ahem, back to Purdon't. Disagree. For whatever reason, the Boilers seem to play the Buckeyes tough. Granted, everyone has a bead on the Bulls-eye on the Buckeyes uniforms, but I remember in 2002, they gave us the biggest struggle....

I believe that it goes back to 1968, when the Super Sophs beat Leroy Keyes and his #1 ranked Boilermakers in the 'Shoe. Was there to see, and it was a butt-whipping. Bob Griese was the QB I seem to recall. They had a pretty decent WR as well (name escapes me), but Griese was too busy running from Stillwagon and Tatum to target him.

Still think that the Scarlet & Gray will defeat the Black & Gold by the spread, as Purdoesn't have the D to stop all the Buckeye weapons that the Buckeyes bring to bear. OSU defense will still have leaks, but will rise to the occasion when it counts. Heck OSU will cover the 'over' themselves.....mark it down.....in ink.

Well, I guess that's that for my pink Sperry's.

We're not playing Tresselball anymore either. If this game is close, it's because our defense choked again. No way we don't put up at least 400 yards rushing based off of their past two games

Eh...I'd be a lot more worried if the game were in West Lafayette. In Columbus the Bucks usually take care of business against Purdue. Since the last time the Boilers won in Columbus:

W 21-3
W 48-14
W 28-0
W 25-22
W 35-9
W 16-13
W 16-3
W 49-0

They kept it close when they had our worst team of the 90's (25-22 in 1999) and when they had their best team of the 00's (16-13 in 2003). I don't think this is Ohio State's worst team or Purdue's best team of any era that extends beyond 2012.

Hope the crowd really brings it. I know noon games are a little tough and everything, but really hope we can get behind them and make it tough on Purdont. I keep looking back at those couple of series (the one with 2 in a row especially) against Nebraska where they had all of the false starts. Thats how it should be all the time, especially with a team looking for an unbeaten season.

I think the D steps up and plays better this game. I think the biggest thing they can do is come together and play better team defense. Gang tackle, stop trying to strip etc. I bet theyre flying around Saturday afternoon.

Get to 8-0!!

Bucks - 70
Purdue - 23

Anyone else glad we don't have to hear that mother fucking whistle and "boiler up" bullshit all day? That annoys me even more than the Penn State meow, which is saying something...

Have to get off to a much better start than we have been this season imo, if we don't it could make this game much more difficult. Purdue appears to be a broken team and the last thing they need is to get the motivation and energy back that made them a tough team early in the season instead of the ghosts we saw last week. It's been a bit of a frustrating experience watching the offense in the first couple of series in most games so hopefully that turns around Saturday.

I will be looking to see if the Buckeyes show up in the 1st qtr or if this habit of taking half or more of the game off for noon home games continues.

If the offense plays 4 qtrs, we win. If the defense remembers how to defend, we win big. If we take qtrs off, turn the ball over and give up big special teams plays....
