Purdue Boilermakers (official thread)

If Purdue gets by ND they could be 4-0 or 6-0 with good wins against NW, UM, and ND by the time they visit.

One thing I know about Tressel and the Buckeyes though is that anytime they were embarressed by their efforts (and last year they were against Purdue) they come back and they get after that team. Good Luck to Purdue though until they visit us.

The schedules looks favorable but keep in mind it looks like we'll be without Ralph Bolden for the season or at the very least the early part of it and Marve is still new in this system. Defensively we have to replace our entire secondary so even though it looks like what should be some "easy" wins we are not ready to put down the "W's" yet. I think it's good to get ND first to gauge what we have early. Should be a interesting or frustrating as hell season..lol

Welcome CB. I actually attended Purdue for one year of grad school and got my pilots license with Purdue Pilots Inc., back when they were still flying out of Aretz airport.

Here's my completely worthless prediction of your upcoming season, based on what little I know of the top of my head about Purdue's returning team. Wins and losses are from the perspective of Purdue.
2010 Schedule

@ Notre Dame - Tossup. Until proven otherwise, Brian Kelly is to be respected when you find him on your schedule, and up to now, no one has really proven otherwise. This game will garner national attention just to see what BK can do with the domers. (@domer fans: "Of course Charlie the Hutt left the cupboard bare.....").

Western Illinois - Win

Ball State - Win

Toledo - Closer than the experts think, win

@ Northwestern - Loss, I think Purdue wins at home, but Fitzgerald has his guys playing at a high level lately, at NW I think the Wildcats take this one.

Minnesota - Win, really a toss up, Minnesota has been playing pretty well. Either way, I think you split NW and Minny.

@ Ohio State - Loss. Only Barry Alvarez beats Tressel twice in a row. Last year was a trap game for the Buckeyes. I actually predicted that loss pre-season, because Purdue was not bad and where the game fell in scheduling. The only hope Purdue has in this game is that I will be in attendance, and I am bad luck (PSU 08 and USC 09) for the Buckeyes.

@ Illinois - Win

Wisconsin - Loss

Michigan - Win as the wheels finally come flying off of the RichRod.

@ Michigan State - Loss

Indiana - Win

8-4 or 7-5, not too shabby, Purdue goes Bowling.

Actualy I'm tired of the B10 waiting on them. I think it would be great for the conference to have a tradition like ND and the extra fan bases and media exposure but I think the B10 comes off looking desperate waiting and almost begging the Irish to join. It's pretty clear ND doesn't want to join for a few reasons so for now the hell with them I say....The addition of Nebraska is great with their football,WBB and pretty good fan base. I'd still like to see Mizzou and maybe even Louisville join. Both are regional and for the most part would be reasonable travel distances for most fans. Plus both have solid football and basketball programs.

I have heard no way Louisville is even considered because of academics. I bet Notre Dame and the Big 10 are just waiting for ND's current TV contract to expire and then you might see them talk again.

Notes from Friday's AM Practice

Wiggs kicked a 62-yard field goal in live action with a full rush.

-Ken Plue is dominating regularly.

-Will Lucas is "ready now" according to Hope and, regardless of class, is one of the better defensive players on the team.

-Antavian Edison & Keith Smith were called the fastest and most-consistent players on the offense among the skilled players.

1. Robert Marve is an idiot and is STILL over-rated as a QB.

2. A good system will overcome lack of talent. If the system requires a certain type of player but the depth at those positions is lacking, then the system will have issues running correctly.

3. Purdue couldn't get stops when it had too. Ntre Ame isn't that great on offense (yet), but when they had to get a first down in the 4th quarter, they were able to pound it out on the ground. I'm certain other Big Ten coaches noticed.

Good game today, Boiler. You guys came into Suth Ben today and played us tough. Had our running game not come alive, I think you guys would have come away with a victory today (Can't remember the last time we ran the ball effectively). Besides the INTs, I thought Marve played very well.

Marve shows signs of being a good play maker and I think before the season is over he will make his share of big plays. Was disappointed with the ND game but we didn't deserve to win it. We really miss Bolden and I really wish Hope would open up the playbook a little more.
