    Buckeyes win Game 1

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio State baseball team claimed its first win in conference play with a 13-2 victory over Purdue on a cold, windy and rainy Friday night at Nick Swisher Field at Bill Davis Stadium. With the win, the Scarlet and Gray improve to 11-14 overall and 1-3 in Big Ten play, while the Boilermakers fall to 13-12 overall and 1-3 in conference action. Yianni Pavlopoulos tossed five scoreless innings to claim his second win of the season.

"For him to just be process-driven and execute the fastball in the bottom of the strike zone was really good and what we needed," head coach Greg Beals said. "Just putting up the zeroes. We score, we put up a zero. We score, put up a zero. Score, put up a zero. And that just is deflating to a team when you don't let them back in. They score and we pop three back in. It's just like we were on. Tonight was a night and the season hasn't been this way very often, but tonight was a night it was all Buckeyes. The guys really embraced the weather conditions and that's what I told them pregame."

Buckeyes lose 6-1 in game 2

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State baseball team dropped a 6-1 game against Purdue Saturday evening at Nick Swisher Field at Bill Davis Stadium. With the loss, the Buckeyes drop to 11-15 overall and 1-4 in Big Ten play, while the Boilermakers improve to 14-12 overall and 2-3 in conference action.

“They got their lead-off guy on in the first four innings, but give them credit for situational hitting to produce runs early in the game,” head coach Greg Beals said. “Their starting pitcher did a good job. He’s got some angle and deception with the fastball as a lefty. We weren’t able to make the adjustment the second time through the lineup. We got ourselves in position later in the game, but couldn’t get those two-out hits tonight.”

    Bucks drop game 3, 2-1

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Despite a quality start from fifth-year senior pitcher Jake Post, the Ohio State baseball team was edged by Purdue, 2-1, in the finale of a three-game series Sunday afternoon at Nick Swisher Field at Bill Davis Stadium. With the loss, the Buckeyes fall to 11-16 overall and 1-5 in Big Ten play, while the Boilermakers improve to 15-12 overall and 3-3 in conference action.

“I thought both of our pitchers did very well today,” head coach Greg Beals said. “We gave up just one earned run, two runs total - that should be enough runs to win a ball game on Sunday. We had our opportunities and had situations to win the game today. We need to find a way for our guys to compete with some confidence and that’s what we are missing right now. Our guys are trying too hard in those critical situations.”
