Notes from Bills minicamp:

— We saw Bad Cardale and Good Cardale. The bad? Back-to-back ugly underthrows deep. Cardale Jones has had multiple rainbows fall short that could get picked off. The good? He unleashed one ball at least 60-65 yards in the air to Dezmin Lewis for a touchdown. Lewis made a great adjustment on the play, too, turning his body left and then right to make the catch.

1) Cardale’s rollercoaster Wednesday
- While Tyrod Taylor was once again the best quarterback on the field — as he should be — the day for Cardale Jones is one that had as many twists and turns as a soap opera. Yesterday, I wrote about just how raw Jones is at this point in time, and that was even multiplied on Wednesday. During team drills, on multiple occasions, Jones basically just kept his feet planted on the ground, and basically just launched it straight up in the air. It created multiple jump ball opportunities for the defense, and likely should have resulted in an interception at least once. But then, Jones just brings you right back in with two of the best plays of the afternoon. He uncorked a beautiful throw over the middle of the field, and then later on, came the real play of the day. Jones dropped back into the pocket, climbed forward, gave a hearty pump fake, and stepped into a throw that went 60-plus yards down the field and safely into the arms of wide receiver Dez Lewis. Only speaking for myself, it was a jaw dropping throw. That’s exactly what the Bills have to unearth with Jones: getting rid of all the bad tendencies, and finding out how to make those big throws more of the norm.

WHAT NFL TEAMS ARE SAYING ABOUT OHIO STATE'S NON-FIRST ROUND DRAFT PICKS FOLLOWING MINICAMP

Last week, we took a trip around the NFL circuit to see what teams were saying about Ohio State's five first-round draft picks following the conclusion of league minicamps. The results, as expected, were fairly positive as each player figures to make an impact as a rookie.

But, as you're well-aware, the 2016 NFL Draft was a historic night for the Buckeyes as they had seven additional players selected after the first round. There's a strong chance some of those picks are high-impact rookies, as well.

Here are some things NFL teams are saying about the former Ohio State players they recently selected in the NFL Draft:

CARDALE JONES — BUFFALO BILLS QUARTERBACK

"You know we are trying to really throw everything at him which is somewhat unfair, but in the long run, it is probably the best way to do things," Bills offensive coordinator Greg Roman said recently, via WKBW. "At some point, we will titrate down, define the player and customize what we do with him. Right now we are exposing him to everything to get a feel for him. So we are not really in the evaluation phase, we are simply trying to get him prepared for training camp."

Before heading off to training camp, Cardale Jones teams up with Make-A-Wish again

The former Ohio State quarterback has to report to Buffalo Bills training camp next Thursday.

Cardale Jones may have to report with the rest of the Buffalo Bills rookies to training camp in a week, but the former Ohio State quarterback took some time on Wednesday night to help the Make-A-Wish foundation. Rob Wells of WSYX ABC 6 in Columbus was at L.E.P.D Firearms and Range last night as Cardale Jones met with Austin Smith. The 18-year old from Grove City is battling Hodgkin's lymphoma and his wish through the Make-A-Wish foundation was go to the shooting range with Jones.

Cardale leads a really nice last-minute TD drive against the Colts just now, including 20+ and 40+ yarders and a classic Cardale 3rd down 12-yard scramble. Bills miss the 2-point try for the win, but he is actually a potential #2 for them this year. 162 pass yards, 33 rushing.

I was impressed by how (on the TD) he appeared to be staring down a receiver on the left side, then rapidly threw a dart to a receiver coming open on the right with nary a glance before his release.

I'm sure there will be growing pains for Cardale, but the highlights, at least, looked very promising.
