Some bold statements from Ted Ginn Sr.

Sr. thinks Cordale is better than both TP and Braxton and says it is not even close.

He feels his passing ability, technique, and pocket presence is superior to both and he has equal athleticism.

I haven't seen him play so I have no idea what's what, because highlight films are misleading to me.

Has anyone seen him play this season, if so what are your thoughts?

All I know is Braxton/TP are both still a work in progress and I want a passer who can run not the other way around.

Any resident analysts have thoughts on Cordale as a passer?

From Mr. B. on BN:

Better than Braxton? Better than Terrelle?...Yes, that?s what we said. Even more importantly, that?s what Ted Ginn Sr. thinks of Cardale Jones. After Duane looked at a series of games in which Cardale played, Duane went on to opine: "This kid is every bit of 6'4 maybe 6'5; if you thought Devontae Payne (Cleveland South) was a top 20 player then Cardale is number 1 in Ohio.

if you thought Devontae Payne (Cleveland South) was a top 20 player then Cardale is number 1 in Ohio.
Bringing up Payne, who was severely overrated by BN and only garnered low-end MAC interest, doesn't really help his case. Nor does the whole payne:top-20::cardale:1 analogy.

Solid player? Maybe. Clearly better than both? No.

LOL, If Cardale Jones is better than TP or Braxton Miller, Christian Bryant must be better than all of them since he takes most of the snaps at quarterback for the Tarblooders.

I'm not trying to knock the kid at all...in fact, his film looks pretty solid and he's got a lot of potential. But Ginn, if he even said that, is out of his mind. I'm still waiting for Ray Small to be better than TG2...

1. Duane's comparison is idiotic; Payne was not that good and how talented he is has no bearing on how talented Cardale Jones may be.

2. If Jones is as talented as Ginn thinks he is then maybe he could leave him at quarterback for the entire game? Or maybe an entire quarter?

I've seen Glenville play this year, and there is no doubt that this kid has some serious talent. But the above statements are just setting people up for disappointment.

I believe Cordale was hurt at the beginning of the season and as he healed his time behind center went up.

I am withholding judgment for now, substance over hype. Ginn Sr is quite the hype man, and I can't blame him.

He is someone worth keeping an eye on.

I saw him early this season and he is ridiculously athletic, has a very strong arm (threw the ball 70 yards) and has a good fame (needs to add weight). However, he is very raw. He needs to learn to get more touch on passes to all levels and learn to make better reads. But if he works this out b/t now and next year or at least shows improvement, I certainly would love to see him in scarlet & gray.

Glenville holds on, moves on to state semifinal
Bob Fortuna, Plain Dealer Reporter, November 22, 2009 5 a.m.

. . .

Junior quarterback Cardale Jones completed seven of 12 first-half passes for 201 yards and three touchdowns. He finished with an 8-of-15 effort for 206 yards.

Jones connected with Latwan Anderson for a 36-yard completion, then a 17-yard pass to Shane Bell II before clicking with Shane Wynn for 4-yard scoring toss.

Jones then found Wynn for a 45-yard touchdown pass midway through the second quarter and marking the beginning of a 3-touchdown rally that ate up close to 4:30.

"They were splitting their safeties so we figured the play-action fake would be effective," Jones said.
