QB Dwayne Haskins Jr. (All B1G, B1G OPOY, Silver Football, Rose Bowl MVP, R.I.P.)

DWAYNE HASKINS BECOMES FIRST OHIO STATE QUARTERBACK WITH TWO 400-YARD PASSING GAMES

Dwayne Haskins continues to make Ohio State history with his arm.

During Saturday's 30-14 win over Minnesota, Haskins went 33-for-44 through the air for 412 yards and three touchdowns.

Haskins became the first Buckeye quarterback ever to throw for 400 yards twice in his career – and he did it in consecutive weeks after he nearly broke Art Schlichter's single-game passing record last week with 455 yards through the air.

The first-year starter has also tied J.T. Barrett's single-game completions record in consecutive weeks with 33 against Minnesota and Indiana.

Haskins is also on pace to break almost all of Ohio State's single-season passing records, including total passing yardage, completion percentage, touchdowns and yards per game.

At this point it appears that the only single season record that Haskins will need The Game to break is for 200 yard passing games in a season.

He will enter that game tied with Germaine and Hoying at 11. He will own every other single season record when the game begins.

The man deserves a senior day introduction for that, senior or not.

Tua is having a good year but he is not putting up near the numbers Haskins is. I think he is getting a lot of Heisman love based on the second half of the NC last year...based just on stats, Haskins has him in every category except rating.

What that means is that Tua has fewer attempts.

Tua's efficiency rating is historic. A lot of quarterbacks have faced crap schedules over the years. Not one of them has ever come anywhere near his efficiency rating.

Yes, there have been some ill-advised throws where his receivers bailed him out. But his numbers are absolutely amazing.

To me, Dwayne's best argument is his performances late against TCU and PSU. Against better defenses than Tua has faced so far, when it mattered most, that's when he has been at his best. That, to me, is what makes the Heisman race close. If I look at the raw numbers, devoid of context, Tua wins that comparison by a long shot.

Looking around the college landscape after yesterday: Will Grier posted a QBR of 16.6, throwing for just 100 yards in a loss to Iowa State. Tua has a knee sprain, so instead of not playing the 4th quarter of a game because it's a blow out, yesterday he missed the 4th quarter due to injury. Heisman voters will only see Justin Herbert play in two games all year because Pac-12 games end at 2:30 AM eastern on FS1 - a channel some people still don't know they have. There aren't any running backs moving the needle. The only appearance Bryce Love has made in three weeks has been on milk cartons. Darrell Henderson and Memphis lost their upset bid of UCF yesterday which would have put him on the radar. Jonathan Taylor and Wisconsin have two horrible losses. Benny Snell's been awesome and is carrying Kentucky, but 116.5 ypg isn't winning a Heisman.

Haskins may end the regular season with numbers previously only seen by QBs from Hawaii, Texas Tech, and Oklahoma State. The defense is just bad enough to keep him on the field all four quarters of every game. And he plays for Ohio State ...

So...

Is it too early to start calling him Heiskins?
