QB Dwayne Haskins Jr. (All B1G, B1G OPOY, Silver Football, Rose Bowl MVP, R.I.P.)

Mathis and Miller are much more capable running than Dwayne though... shoot even Baldwin is a better runner I think.

So I think they can still run some. If we lose Tate though we have no ability to change it up if we continue to struggle running the ball.

Let's just admit that you hate all our starting QBs and be done with it. Start Tate? Sure, you'll find something about him too and start barking for Baldwin.

Again, the issue isn’t the type of QB. No reason to not be able to run the ball without a running QB.

I agree there is no reason we can't run the ball with Haskins. However it hasn't happened and the run game did look better with Tate for the limited time he was back there.
I think he just really likes Tate and cant get past Haskins being the starter. Every single post is about Tate.
I'm glad the coaching staff is working on packages w/him in offense... but damn.
No. I want the offense to do well and we have 10 games of proof that show DH is a great thrower but our run game suffers. No reason why Tate can't get more burn out there if he gives us a dimension DH just can't give.

Last year I want Dwayne unless we start using JT properly. This year? I want Dwayne 85% of the time with some packages for Tate.

I won't sugar coat it DH proves time and again he's not willing to run the ball (which is fine). If we are going to keep running options/reads with DH then our backs will continue getting stuffed 3 yards in the backfield until we insert a QB who can keep them honest.

My preference is to either STOP calling the read/options or put in Tate more. Since we clearly Won't stop calling reads/options then option 2 it is for me.

And every single post last season was bitching about JT...

Some people are never happy.
Truth. I think a lot of Buckeye fans believe we should be a Madden Game on the field with the talent we continuously recruit but the human elementis over looked. It didn't help when we have a game or two like that and then it's expected every single game.

I'm basically at, kick scUMs as this year and anything else is gravy!

Yeah, I really like my annual trip to Indy. That's my hopes for this year and a fun bowl game.

Here's the rub: attribution. You attribute the issues with the run game to the QB. Everyone else sees it for what it is, a combination of scheme and skills not being in alignment.

And for what it's worth, I'm pretty sure that we've not run many read / option plays this year. The issue has been with the RPO and the OL being caught in the DMZ not knowing if they are blocking to protect a passer or blocking for a running play. If you're going to find fault somewhere, I'd not be looking at the kids. I'd be looking at the sidelines at position coaches and coordinators who are calling things that the players aren't ready to execute consistently.

Let me start this off by saying that I think Haskins is a tremendous passer and talent. I also think he isn't as developed overall as a game QB.
I'm thinking we HAVE to be able to run the ball with Haskins. Now it's entirely probable that he has always been able to win games with his arm, No reason not to be able to do that and have the career he has had. But now he's in college football and the team has to be able to run.
The pros need a run game too and if Haskins can't develop his program into a QB that encompasses the run right along with his tremendous passing talents then he probably won't enjoy a long pro career.

At this point in time he is listed as 8th or 9th in the Heisman and there are 6 QB's ahead of him. Maybe 4 will be drafted ahead of him, so where would he go in the draft. Certainly not in the top 5.

He has to learn to get rid of the ball fast. I think he gets rushed at times and makes some errant passes. Think about Clemson's rush. I also think he needs to learn to stay poised under a rush.

Then again maybe I don't know shit.

Heisman QB lists is not the best way to guess where somebody will be drafted.

I don't get the criticism of not getting rid of the ball fast. A huge majority of his passes are short. Too many, lately IMO. I think he's being undersold here by a ton. I'm going to be surprised if he's not a top 10 pick and a top 2 QB taken. But I also thought Saquon would drop, so maybe I don't know shit either.

Except the NFL game tends to have zero QB runs. He’s not designing the offense just running it. The lack of the run game isn’t on Haskins. Worst case he might need to clean up some RPO reads.
